Ch. Fifteen

Audrey and Maddie stood still behind the wall. They could see the receptionist at the table, she hadn't moved an inch and was currently flipping the pages of her magazine aggressively.

It confused Maddie as to why a 'house' would require a reception. Probably it was a business site or the supposed house was a hotel destination spot. She shook of the dubious thoughts from her mind and proceeded to take out a small ball from one of her three baggages

She handed it to her friend, who nodded. Audrey grabbed the ball, positioned herself, came out from behind the wall and threw the ball as fast as humanly possible. The ball went right to the receptionist desk where the lady looked visibly confused before the ball erupted into smoke.

The lady coughed and the two friends took that as a signal to dash for the door. Maddie struggled to open the huge handle of the door but when she succeeded she pulled Audrey with her, who was kindly putting a handkerchief for the receptionist lady. The woman continued coughing and waving her hands frantically to remove the smoke.

The two friends went out the door and slammed it back softly but quickly so as to not let the smoke escape. They were lucky enough that the moment they went out, they came face to face with a taxi.

Audrey waved her arms for the taxi to stop. The driver looked taken aback but he hastily obliged. Audrey went inside and seated herself whilst Maddie tussled her 3 baggages.

"Vanderbilt College, 313 Street. Quick." Maddie said between her breaths after she had finally settled down with her belongings. More like her and Audrey's belongings altogether. Audrey's injury had healed quite a lot to be able to walk but they didn't want to risk it and Maddie suggested she would carry her luggage. Whatever was there.

The taxi went off in a rush, whilst unknown to them a blonde haired girl laughed as she saw the scene from the building.

Amber sipped on her coffee with a straw, as she laughed at the two who tried to secretly run away from their house. William chuckled beside her and lightly shook his head

"Seriously." William held his sides as he burst laughing on the floor.

"I know. I had an amazing laugh this morning when I noticed them huddling out their room with three bags, they must've been scared or maybe they thought I was evil? Because I did poison them you know." Amber said.

"Shut up. We've got classes today,  that's the reason they set out early." William said, he held out a note in front of Amber.

The note said, " Thank you for your kindness yesterday. We'll leave early for classes. Thank you again" a small heart was drawn to the side and signed by Audrey. Amber looked up from the note right into her brother's toothy grin.

"Your face might explode from how much you've been smiling" Amber laughed. William walked away.

"You're lying to yourself you know!" Amber walked after him, torturing him with questions William successfully ignored.

Right after the first few classes, Audrey walked into the library. The kind lady greeted them. Audrey noticed for the first time in awhile that the librarian had red hair, short but bushy red hair. It seemed dull.

Audrey had received a message from Maddie to meet her in the library. She supposed it was to study so she brought her literature notes. But now she couldn't find Maddie until a hand hit her shoulder. She turned around to face her friend.

"hey! I've been calling you for 5 whole minutes. We've gotta get on working, this is emergency." Maddie said, her face a grim too serious.

"What is it about again?" Audrey said. Her best friend was used to putting too much attention on baseless things. They might just be digging up dirt. Nevertheless, it would be fine.

"You know how it does not depend on the parents whether the child would be a vampire or not? It can be a human and a vampire and it would depend on the child to be either a vampire or a human. But if both are vampires the child is also a vampire."Maddie said. They both had now sat down on a nearby table and were reading a pile of books Maddie had deposited, all based on "vampires."

"Yes if it's a human and a vampire, the child is of low rank, either a servant or a common. But if it's two vampires, the child is of the high rank, a noble or a pure vampire." Audrey said, she flipped a few pages.

"Yes. And the royal family is the only branch where everybody is pure, or noble. The king and the queen were the strongest vampires in their time which resulted in their children being stronger. " Maddie exclaimed, she got a warning glare from the librarian. The people near her, hushed her.

"Okay. I'm not sure why you're saying these. We've known about it for years." Audrey furrowed her eyebrows. What was her friend going at?

"Yes, yes I know. But, the royal family has two children, a boy and a girl, ""we don't know the names, precisely known as "Royal Master" and "Royal Mistress". We know that they're blonde. And they probably have green or blue eyes? Cause in this picture" Maddie shifted the book towards Audrey, "the king and his queen have blue and green eyes. "

"No no no my dear friend", Audrey gave a little laugh, "the royal family has mentioned it numerous times they don't want anybody finding out the identity of their staffs, people, and especially the identity of their children. It's done to allow their children a better normal life until and unless they take over the throne. Also to ensure the safety" Audrey said, even though she flipped a few more pages.

"Mhm, exactly. But we are basically months away from the new crown prince being chosen. The future king has come of age. And my father, he's a noble in the king's court, he says the prince will start training really soon and that he's overly excited even though he's not the one training the Prince." Maddie said, she shifted her glasses.

"So you're suggesting we find out who the  prince is, cause we're going to find out anyways?" Audrey asked, she received an excited nod from the other end.

"You're crazy" Audrey laughed and shook her head. As she did so, her vision caught sight of a certain lean figure she very properly recognized now. She needed to hide.

She took the book she was reading and held it vertically, hiding behind it but the figure noticed her and smiled at her before walking towards her.

William, go away.
