Up is the view Audrey sees, more or less.
Ch. Twelve

William covered Audrey in a velvety blanket and tucked her in securely. He laid a cool hand on her forehead, it was burning up. He casted a warning glare at his sister who sat on a chair, close to the bed.

" I'm really sorry. Dad asked me to look out for any mishappenings and the moment i saw them, all I could think about was the safety of our people. " Amber smiled sheepishly.

" You and your thoughts. But we've got to take care of her now, we don't want her missing out classes or whatever." William waved to one of the men standing near his door, the other bowed then went away to bring a clean tidy cloth with a bowl of water.

" Classes? Is she your friend?" Amber asked.

" She's the one I complimented, 'beautiful' to." William deadpanned. His cheeks took an adorable shade of pink and his sister wouldn't stop coo-ing at the sight.

" No wonder you're taking care of her by yourself when we've got loads of professional doctors." Amber laughed, "but I really am sorry. I was quick to judge, and acted rashly. "

" It's okay, be careful next time Amber. " William opened the torn piece of hoodie Maddie had wrapped around Audrey's leg. The wounded area was purplish and it spread to the nearby areas quickly. Audrey above groaned, she still hadn't returned to her senses. Amber took a needle from the desk and pierced Audrey's wounded skin.

Audrey woke up with a loud cry, tears streaming down her face instantly. And immediately, William was by her side. He held on to her, pressing her down the mattress and whispering in a gentle voice, " hey hey hey, it's alright, relax. We're helping you take out the poison. Calm down, it's going to hurt but it will be okay soon. Don't move. Stop moving. "

" It's hurting I can't breathe. Stop." Audrey whimpered, she moved her body to and fro. Amber had pierced her skin, and then used the clean cloth to take out the poisoned blood. The pressing down of the skin created impossible amount of pain, considering Audrey had just fed and the cat's blood that hadn't even been totally absorbed into her system was now being seeped out. Audrey choked on her tears.

"Audrey, it's just to help you feel better. This poison is harmful, Stop moving or it'll affect you. Hey hey, look at me, look at me." William snapped his fingers to gain Audrey's attention, he didn't need to though cause Audrey was solely focusing on him even though she could hardly see him with her blurry eyes.

" Just try and breathe in and out, okay? Count with me." William took a deep breath in and so did Audrey, they exhaled out at the same time, "Try following the rhythm. Yes. Now do the same for the time being" William breathed in.  Audrey followed him, the pain on her leg slowly seemed to fade out when she didn't pay attention to it anymore. She gazed deep into William's eyes and breathed.

William lightly wiped Audrey's tear strained face with his thumb, his fingers caressing her cheek and grazed her long eyelashes, "See? It wasn't so bad, was it?" William smiled, too energetic.

" We're all done!" Amber said, the cloth in her hand turned red in colour. It wasn't so bad as they had expected though, " I apologize for my actions earlier. I wasn't thinking straight. I'm sorry. I truly am." Amber pouted.

" No please don't. I'm sorry, I thought you were chasing us and threw a stone at you first, " Audrey grimaced at the bandage on Amber's shoulder, " u apologize since I started it." Audrey bowed how much ever she could whilst sitting. They both don't bring up the issue as to why they would be able to run around building rooftops that way. It's for the best, they assume.

" Although the poison's out, some effects will be still lingering for a few hours. Say for, your fever." William said, his eyebrows furrowed minutely. Instinctively Audrey's hand shot upto her forehead. True enough, it was burning up. She sneezed and coughed. William handed her a tissue.

" You should lay back down." William covered Audrey in the set of blankets he'd personally chosen. Audrey obliged without any further word.

" Where's Maddie?" Audrey asked as she laid down, William took a clean cloth, wet it in cold water and set it on Audrey's forehead. Somehow Audrey could tell he blamed himself for her condition even though it was never his fault, whatsoever.

" Your friend is waiting downstairs. She's okay, do not worry!" Amber smiled, Audrey couldn't help noticing how similar her smile was to her brother's.

" downstairs? hold on a second, where am I?" Audrey asked, her gaze fell behind her. She turned to look, the whole wall behind her was translucent glass. It showed a glorious view of the whole city of Nashville. Buildings upon buildings with lights all over. It appeared that they were on a skyscraper of some sort.

" It's William's shared apartment with his uncle." Amber provided helpfully, like she hadn't just exposed how rich they were. Intentional or not.

" Excuse us Audrey, we'll let you rest for the night. Please feel free to relax and we apologize again!" William casted a guilty glance towards her then he smiled and Audrey was helpless to do anything but nod.

Amber waved at her and then the two siblings closed the door behind them. Audrey was in an unknown house, that apparently belonged to her 'friend' she'd taken out for tea today afternoon. Had been poisoned on the leg by his sister, why did they even own poison in the first place? And now she laid here on somebody's bed that suspiciously smelled pretty good and she wasn't bothered about it. Infact, she found the smell comforting and quickly fell asleep.

Amber hit William on the head later, " what were you thinking!" she smacked him on the shoulder once again, barely any damage done, " we aren't supposed to take anybody, known or not, in our houses!"

"It's an apartment. " William said.

" Whatever! You're taking it too lightly! Also do you even have an idea who she could be?" Amber said, a hidden fear creeping in her voice.

"Audrey McCain. And yes, I do know who she is,or could be." William assured his sister.

"Then why would you..." Amber trailed off, the last of her words barely audible, " her presence itself is threatening and dangerous."
