Chapter 16
"Jewel, can you please come down here!" My father calls from the bottom of the stairs.
"Yeah! I'm coming!" I sigh and put my hair brush down. I really wasn't in the mood for my parents babbling but its not like I can do anything. I open my door and slowly walk down the stairs. My father comes into view and a huge smile is spread across his face.
"So Jewel your birthday is coming up soon..." I raise an eye brow wondering what this is about.
"So?" I ask him.
He smiles wider "Well, we got you an early birthday present!"
I lower my eye brow. Oh so this is what this is about. They never give me an early birthday gift so I wonder what on earth this one could be to make it different then the others. "Okay?" I ask. Saying it slowly.
He moves his hand and motions to the front door "Its outside."
"Outside?" He nods. Well this should be good. I leave his side and walk to the front door. Just as I put my hand on the door handle he stops me.
"Wait" he puts his hands up. "Wait till I give you the go ahead, okay?" I sigh silently and nod my head. "Do you have your phone?" I reach in my back pocket and pull it out. "Okay good." He nods and walks outside.
Once he's outside I sigh loudly. I don't understand this. I give up waiting by the door and go and plop down into the couch. I become bored and start scrolling through pictures on my phone. I go to the very beginning of all of my photos and start scrolling through. In the beginning are a lot of pictures of me and my old best friend, Sydney. I met her when I first got Zane and I was new to the stable. She was the first person I had met when I got there. After I had gotten Zane all settled in I started to walk around the stable to get to know the area better. I was walking past the show jumping ring when her paint horse caught my attention. The way they both flew over the jumps amazed me. She was the one who inspired me to start. Not the fact that my father was getting ready to force me to do it. She caught me staring and after she finished her round of jumps she trotted over to me.
She stopped right in front of me "Hey. You need something?" Her voice was friendly and her eyes quickly looked over me.
"Um no... I just... Um..." I start to studder.
She laughs "Its okay. Were you just watching?" I nod and she smiles "Do you jump?"
