One Last Time

I was a liar
I gave into the fire
I know I should've fought it
At least I'm bein' honest
Feel like a failure
'Cause I know that I failed you
I should've done you better
'Cause you don't want a liar

"When you know he's the only boy I've ever loved!" Sam shouted.

Freddie stepped between the two girls fighting. "What now?"

"I'm exaggerating to make a point." I lied through my teeth.

I wish I didn't lie. After Freddie went home he met some girl and now he's getting married. If I just would have told the truth in the moment it could be me, I could be marrying the dork/love of my life.

And I know, and I know, and I know she gives you everything
But boy, I couldn't give it to you
And I know, and I know, and I know that you got everything
But I got nothin' here without you

So one last time
I need to be the one who takes you home
One more time
I promise after that, I'll let you go
Baby, I don't care if you got her in your heart
All I really care is you wake up in my arms
One last time
I need to be the one who takes you home

"Hey Sam! You look great!" He smiled at me and I wanted nothing more than to yank him close by the collar of his shirt and kiss him. "This is my angel, Clara."

Is it just a coincidence that her name sounds suspiciously like Carly's name? Why couldn't he be marrying a Pam or Tammy? That's kinda close to my name.

"Nice tux, Freddork." I chuckled.

"Frankie, I'm gonna go get another drink." She kissed his cheek. Frankie? Either she's getting really drunk or she doesn't know the name of her fiance.

Freddie sipped on his drink. "I'm glad you come, Sam." He smiled.

His smile drives me crazy.

I don't deserve it
I know I don't deserve it
But stay with me a minute
I swear I'll make it worth it
Can't you forgive me?
At least just temporarily
I know that this is my fault
I should have been more careful

"You're not getting cold feet, right Benson?" I joked stepping closer to him. "Hitting that drink kinda hard." I smirked in his face.

Freddie gulped. "No, Sam. I'm not. I'm marrying for love." He smiled.

If he smiles one more time, that cute nervous smile, I'm gonna grab him and kiss him. I don't care if he's getting married next week. I don't care if he loves her.

"Can you believe that we're here again? Standing right by Carly's elevator." He sipped his drink.

"Where we made love?" I smirked.

Freddie chuckled. "I was thinking it's where we broke up, but you're right we did make love in the elevator. We sure had some wild times." He laughed. His face pulling into that cute nervous smile again. "Our first time was in an elevator. Can anyone else say that? Probably not." He finished his drink, but before he could wipe his mouth with a napkin I kissed him. "Sam, what are you-"

"I wanted to taste your drink." I shrugged. "Don't hog it, Benson."

He scoffed. "I'll get you one, but you can't kiss me. I'm engaged."

"I don't care." I shook my head.

"What?"

"I know I don't deserve you and I'm okay with that. You have every right to move on, to get everything you want, but I need you, Freddie. I need one last time with you."

Freddie stared at me like I was crazy. "Very funny, Sam. How much have you had to drink?"

"A bit, who cares. This isn't about alcohol, Freddie. It's about us. I don't care if you love her, but I love you. I need you. Just stay with me. Forgive me for lying back then, please." Thankfully the music was louder than our conversation because I've never felt more stupid and vulnerable.

"You're serious?" Freddie blinked.

"Do I ever call you Freddie when I'm not serious?" I stated.

Freddie gulped. "Sam, I- I can't-"

I leaned forward and kissed him again. "I know, but if you want to I'm all yours. One last time?"

Freddie looked around to see if anyone was looking at us. "Sam, if I'm gonna agree to this, and this is crazy! I need to know what you're talking about. When did you lie?"

"When I said I was exaggerating to make a point. I wasn't. You are the only boy I've ever loved."

And I know, and I know, and I know she gives you everything
But boy, I couldn't give it to you
And I know, and I know, and I know that you got everything
But I got nothin' here without you, baby

So one last time
I need to be the one who takes you home
One more time
I promise after that, I'll let you go
Baby, I don't care if you got her in your heart
All I really care is you wake up in my arms
One last time
I need to be the one who takes you home

"I know I shouldn't agree to this. I know that if Clara finds out I'm dead meat." Freddie gulped, then he hit the button on the elevator.

When it opened he took me by the hand and pulled me inside and when it closed he kissed me.

If I have to watch Freddie marry someone else next week I'm going to have one last wild ride in this elevator with the boy I've always loved. I looked into Freddie's eyes as my dress fell down to my feet.

"This might be the whiskey, Sam, but I'm always going to love you."

I know I should've fought it
At least I'm bein' honest, yeah
Now stay with me a minute
I swear I'll make it worth it, yeah
'Cause I don't wanna be without you

So one last time
I need to be the one who takes you home (babe)
One more time
I promise after that, I'll let you go
Baby, I don't care if you got her in your heart (babe)
All I really care is you wake up in my arms
One last time
I need to be the one who takes you home, yeah

One last time
I need to be the one who takes you home
