The Last Night

Beck heard someone knocking on the door to his trailer. He blinked his eyes open in the dim light and reached for his cell phone. He flipped it open and saw the time.

Groaning to himself he got up to see who could be bothering him this late, guessing it was one of his parents and they just couldn't wait til morning. He yawned.

"Jade?" He questioned when he saw her outside his door. "It's after midnight. What are you doing here?" He asked in concern.

They had just started dating, but he already knew her home life wasn't great. Usually she would go to Cat though so he was confused why she was at his door instead.

"I did something bad." She admitted above a whisper.

Beck frowned. "Okay?" He waited for her to continue wondering if maybe she cheated on him. He didn't think she would, but no other reason was coming to mind for why she would come over this late at night to tell him about something she did. "What did you do, Jade?" He sighed. "You can tell me." He braced himself for her answer hoping it wasn't as bad as what he thought. It was worse.

"I'm fine." Jade stated, but she didn't meet his gaze. "I just came to say goodbye, Beck. This last month has been great, but I don't want to feel like this anymore."

"Jade." Beck frowned. He was staring at her wrists with wide eyes until he heard her speak. "We don't have to break up. I'm not mad at you and I won't judge."

"Beck-" Jade kept her eyes down. "I wasn't saying we need to break up. I was just saying goodbye."

Beck took her hands in his. "No. You're not alone anymore. You're not saying goodbye. Look at me."

Jade bit her lip to try to stop her tears and shut her eyes tightly.

"Jade. Look at me." Beck let go of her hand and touched her chin with his fingers to make her look up. "I'm right here, baby."

Jade felt tears stinging her eyes. Beck wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him.

"It's my fault." She cried in his arms while they laid in his bed.

"What is?" Beck asked.

"Everything. My parents-"

"No. Listen to me Jade. Your parents don't know you. They don't understand you. Not like I do." He kissed her head. "It is not your fault they always fight."

"They think my feelings are just a phase. That I'll be fine and I should quit being so emotional. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of them."

"They don't matter. I'm here for you. Anytime you want to come over. I'll hold you all night."

Beck was lying awake in his bed thinking about the first time Jade came to spend the night with him. It was nearly three years ago, since that night she would always come over and lay in his arms, but ever since they broke up he laid in bed alone wondering if she was okay or if she was hurting herself again. He looked at his phone.

"A little after one." He sighed. He hoped that she would text or call. He didn't want to fight anymore, but he didn't want to break up either. When she walked out the door he was so sure she was done with him that he just let her leave.

He took a chance and texted her.

Beck stared at his phone until the image of him and Jade started to blur and he begun to doze off. He heard a gentle tapping at his door and blinked his eyes open. He checked his phone to see if she texted back, but there was no message. He figured it might be one of his parents and dragged himself over to his door.

"Jade." He offered her a smile.

"Can I come in?"

Beck let a small smile take over his face and moved out of the way to let her into his RV. "After you."

Jade walked into the RV and over to his bed as if they didn't split up.

Beck walked over to his bed and cautiously laid down beside her. Jade casually snuggled into him and he wrapped his arms around her. They fell asleep side by side wrapped in each other's arms.
