  “we’ve got to go” Moonlight tells me. I follow her through the trees and into the camp. Another howl comes from tall rock.

  “ I'm calling this meeting to give apprentices their positions and pups there mentors” Darkscar says with a smile. “I am also making a new rule, one for the mentors. I have decided that the mentors shall decide their apprentices positions.” There was a howl of agreement in the tribe “Bearclaw would you go first”

  “It would be an honor. As you all know I have been training Blacktip. To appoint him a warrior would be an honor.” As bearclaw finished Blacktip sprang to his feet and howled.

  “Sharptooth you're training two would you speak now” Darkscar asks.

  “Yes Darkscar, I shall appoint swallowtail a lookout, her eyesight has proven to be very good. As for hairypelt I will assign him hunter/warrior.” I saw Hariypelt and he was very happy.

  “Shadowfall your report please” Darkscar asks a dark coated female.

  “Spottedflash is ready for his position as a hunter” she says in a hidden voice.

  “Great” Darkscar says.”Now for the pups. Stamperpaw is still too young to become an apprentice but we still have two valuable young tribe members. Moonlight, and Lightheart, please step forward.-”

  “this is it Lightheart” Moonlight whispers to me.

  “Moonlight I will address you first, you are a lot like your mother, Blueye, you are quick and intelligent, that is why I believe you should train with a true warrior. Moonlight you're mentor will be Sharptooth one of our oldest and most trained warriors, take in as much as you can Moonlight.”Darkscar announces. I look at Moonlight. She looks as if she has eaten something gross.

  “Not stripetail?” she says under her breath.

  “As for you Lightheart I believe you should be trained by another great warrior. Stripetail.”Darkscar says.

  I look to Moonlight, to my surprise she is not upset.

  “I'm glad I got Sharptooth, he is strict and I will learn more from him than Stripetail, Although it would be nice to have a mentor like him. have fun Lightheart” she wanders of and goes to her new mentor. I turn my head to see my mentor walking towards me.

  “hi” i say shyly.

  “you're famous line” He says.

  “What?” I say.

  “I heard thats the first thing you said to your leader not to mention the whole camp” Stripetail says to me.

  “Ya, I am pretty shy” I say in a cowardly voice

  “ And you get along with Moonlight, she is a very open wolf”He says in a friendly voice.”Well anyways tomorrow we walk the border and see what you know and don't know, get some rest Lightheart and I will see you in the morning” He walks off to go and talk to his sister blueheart.

  I stroll over to Moonlight. She is illuminating with joy of becoming an apprentice.

  “Sharp tooth is going to be a great mentor, What about Stripetail?” she asks.

   “Tomorrow we are going to patrol the border and he is going to ask me questions about what I already know” I say happily”why what are you and that old wolf doing”.

  “he is already going into hunting skills with me”

She says proudly.

  “Lucky” I say.”Striptail told me to get some sleep. Where do I sleep?” I ask ,feeling like an idiot.

  “Follow me dumbo”She says. We walk to a cave. There is moss bedding down on the cold floor and no one else there. “all the other apprentices became hunters, warriors or something. Looks like we got the pick of the bedding”. She lays down on one end of the cave, I claim the other side. She is a little restless at first but slowly drifts into sleep.
