After DLR had gotten over the initial impact of my news, he had seemed ecstatic. Elated, even. He continued to interrogate me with questions about Catherine until the early hours of the morning, at which point he called a cab for me. He even went so far as to pay for my cab fare, despite the fact that I'd told him I had brought my own money with me.

Before I was whisked away by the taxi, DLR insisted that he meet Catherine as soon as possible. He gave me a card with a time and a place on it and told me that he expected to meet Cathy soon and that he hoped to see me again.

Of course, after all I'd gone through, there was no way I was going to turn down that offer. And so, here I was, walking through downtown LA with my daughter, both of us ready to meet her famous, rockstar father.

While I had dressed in a flattering yet formal pencil skirt and matching blazer, my daughter seemed to be especially channeling her father's wild wardrobe choices today. I'd told her that she could dress however she wanted to meet her daddy, and she immediately chose a pink Winnie the Pooh sweater with orange shorts and a pair of rain boots with little, green frogs all over them.

Her outfit was so outrageously adorable, I couldn't help but grin every time I looked at her.

"Momma?"

"Yes, Cathy?"

"Is Daddy gonna' like me?"

I looked down at my daughter. Her eyes were focused on the cracks in the sidewalk in front of her, and she was hopping around as though she was pretending to be one of the little frogs on her rain boots. She seemed to be so carefree, and the question had caught me completely off guard. Was she really so worried?

"What? Of course he's going to like you. Why wouldn't he?" I demanded, trying to give her a reassuring smile.

"I don't know," she admitted with a giggle. "I think I'll like him."

I smiled weakly at that. "Oh yeah? And why's that?"

"He's my daddy, silly!" She cackled as though the answer was so obvious and I was stupid for not thinking of it myself.

I couldn't help but laugh at her logic. "Fair enough. Are you excited?"

She faltered in her jumping and scrunched up her face as though she was thinking really hard about how to respond. "I'm excited. I'm scared too. Are you gonna' be there too, momma?"

She looked up at me with her wide eyes and I beamed down at her. "Of course I will. And you know what?"

"What?" She had finally gone back to leaping over the cracks.

"He's going to be excited to see you too. I'm sure of it."

The address on the card took us to some strange building with a waiting room and a gorgeous secretary waiting for us.

"Can I help you?" The voluptuous blond asked as we walked in.

"Uh, yes. We're here to see David Lee Roth?" I said it as more of a question, for fear that I'd entered the wrong building or that maybe DLR had chickened out and would refuse to see me once I'd gotten here.

"Yes, of course. Aurora, right?" The lady asked with a smile.

"Yes, that's me," I confirmed, finally allowing myself to relax as she handed me a pen and a clipboard.

"Just sign in here and I'll go see if David is ready for you."

She got to her feet as she finished speaking, giving me one final smile and nod before hurrying off down a hallway that I hadn't noticed before.
