"Oh shit, Duff! You let her get to 3?" Steven gasped in horror.
Despite Steven's obvious shock at Duff's lack of fear, Duff seemed unconvinced. Rather than make a move to open the door, he remained standing in place, albeit watching me carefully to see what I'd do next.
Alright. He asked for it.
Giving Duff one final warning look, I turned on my heel and headed towards the waterfall over the hot tub. There were plenty of rocks piled up there, all of them very large and very heavy. I imagined that one of them would be strong enough to break through the glass.
"Aurora? What're you...?" Steven began, but trailed off when he saw me pick up a hefty rock.
"Move over, Steven," I ordered, rearing my arm back and aiming.
"What? Aurora! That'll destroy my door! Please don't!" Steven begged, his blue eyes widening with fright.
"Don't worry Popcorn, she's bluffing," Duff stated matter of factly.
"Fine. Don't believe me," I smiled and shrugged. Within seconds, I had reared back and tossed the rock through the air. It was in that moment that everything seemed to move in slow motion.
Steven took refuge behind some nearby bushes, sheltering his head with his arms as he ran for cover. Duff, frantic to save himself as well as his band mate's back door, frantically turned the dead bolt with a loud click and flung the door open before leaping out of the line of fire.
Unbeknownst to these assholes, I had aimed for the rock to hit the paneling, just above the glass door. That way, it would look like the rock was going to shatter through the window but, in reality, I was able to continue my bluff long enough to convince Duff to finally give up his hiding spot.
Without missing a beat, I sprinted to the back door and jumped through it before Duff could realize I'd tricked him and he could close the door again.
"Hey!" Duff cried out as I reached up and pinched his ear in between my pointer finger and my thumb.
"You listen to me, you crazy fuck, my daughter is somewhere in here. And you do not keep me from her. Nobody does. Understand?" I hissed.
"Y-yes ma'am!" Duff whimpered, stooping as low as he could to accommodate for the height difference between the two of us. Unfortunately for him, I continued to tug his ear lower, refusing to allow him to escape the pain I was putting him through.
"Good. Don't make me count to three ever again."
I released him from my death grip and he immediately straightened back up to his full height. I watched as he winced in pain and tenderly cupped his ear. Despite the fact that I'd just assaulted a stranger, I didn't feel guilty. Normally, I wouldn't react so boldly towards someone, but when it came to Catherine, I was a monster. All rules simply flew out the window.
"Damn, Aurora! You're a fuckin' genius!" Steven said excitedly as he stepped into the room.
"She's not a genius! She's the fucking Hulk!" Duff whined, glaring at me whilst nursing his sore ear.
"You watch your language, young man!" I warned. "My child is in this house. If she picks up on any of that foul language, you'll be answering to me."
"You really know how to pick 'em, Stevie," Duff growled, turning away from me and sulking in the corner.
I raised an eye brow at his remark. What was that supposed to mean? I noticed Steven blush slightly, but when I opened my mouth to ask about it, I was interrupted by a tiny giggle.
