"Welcome to the Kira investigation team Y/n. Are you ready to begin?" I guess there's no turning back now...

"Well, I didn't come here for nothing!" We sat for a while discussing the previous research on the case while we ate, with the exception of Misa. Light's eyes kept farting across the table and then returning back to his cake, but I couldn't tell what he was looking at.

"Right! Let me show you to your rooms, as you're part of the case now you'll all need to be monitored I hope you understand." So there WAS a creepy catch.

"Uh, Ryuzaki don't you think-" I was about to ask if I would be able to return to classes but he cut me off before I got the chance.

"You and Light will still be able to attend your classes at the university. Oh and I've already taken the liberty of ending your contract with your apartment complex." He what? I really need to be on guard around this guy, he's too many steps ahead of me...

"Light and Misa, Matsuda will show you to your rooms. Y/n if you'll follow me I'll show you to yours. We'll meet back in the meeting room in an hour." The group scooted out their chairs, with the sound of heavy chairs scraping away at the hardwood floors. When Ryuzaki started walking, his steps sounded strange, and when I looked down I realized why. Apparently he had been barefoot this whole time?

We walked back to the elevator and went up to floor ten and were met by a set of three doors.

"The one furthest to the right is your room, the one next to that is a snack or break room, a sort of private kitchen, and the room furthest to the left is mine. I usually don't sleep much so you won't get disturbed that often." Looks like I'll be sharing a floor with this guy. Is he really not going to explain himself?

We walked to the door furthest to the right, my door. They really had spared no expense on this building. The door was a dark brown, and heavy as I pushed to open it. The handle was the same brass as the rails in the elevator, golden and glistening.

As I walked into the room, my idea that they had spared no expense was further supported with a large four poster bed against the left wall made of a similar dark wood to the door. The comforter was a velvety red with gold accents accompanied by white pillows with similar detailing. The far wall had a large window with drawn back curtains and on the far left was a desk and another door.

"The door to the left leads to your bathroom and closet, amenities are provided but if you would like to get your own they aren't prohibited. I hope it's to your liking..." The room was so elegant, I don't see how it couldn't be to someone's liking unless they were a minimalist.

"The clothes from your old apartment have been moved and placed in your closet already, books will be found there too. Everything else is in storage downstairs and organized so if you need anything feel free to grab it." This is insane! I had been struggling to make rent already since I was living off of my earnings from occasionally working at the university and my job last summer... everything was so lavish.

"Also, I've been made aware by Ms.Amane, or Misa as you may know her, that I sometimes come off as unnerving so if I ever make you uncomfortable feel free to let me know." He just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

"I'll leave you to get settled, meet everyone back on floor seven in fifty minutes." Ryuzaki walked back out with his feet slapping the floor, even now he seemed very robotic in his words and mannerisms.

"Ryuzaki...?" He turned around and I caught a glimpse of his face changing expressions. He had gone from one of disinterest, maybe even sorrow, to one of intrigue and perhaps excitement. So he was capable of emotion...

"Yes Y/n? Is something wrong?" His eyes were moving side to side across the room as though he had made an error of some kind and was scanning to find the bug that needed to be fixed.

"I just wanted to say thank you, and the room is wonderful." I smiled at him to hopefully lower his guard, he had been on high alert since the moment I met him, I wonder if it's even possible for him to relax.

And just like that his features softened and he smiled like a young child who's just received praise from someone they look up to.

"Ah, that's a relief." He slightly returned the smile and cast down his eyes as he turned to walk out of the room once again.

I heard him walk down the hall and into his room at the far left. What a strange man. That smile was a strange expression on its own, maybe it was just because he might have let his guard down even if it was just a little.

The strange Ryuzaki was starting to grow on me...

30 Minutes Later

I had gone to my closet to get a change of clothes, it seems like the atmosphere here is fairly laid back so I shouldn't have to wear such formal attire, like what I put on this morning. I switched into a t-shirt and some loose but comfy jeans. Casual, but not overly so. I even considered going barefoot but I realized that might have been a poor choice, but I did put on some house slippers instead since I doubted we'd be going outside.

Ready to go! The door is still heavy as ever and-

"Ah!" Ryuzaki stood stunned right at the door with his fist raised in position to knock, I didn't expect to see him there so of course I was startled.

He was wearing more formal attire than he had been minutes earlier, we stood there for a moment dying each other before he spoke up.

"Sorry I didn't mean to frighten you! I changed into more formal clothing since it seems you were expecting a more formal atmosphere, I didn't want to hinder your preferred work environment..." He stood there seemingly uncomfortable, seeing two more different emotions on his face in one day was far more than I had expected of the robotic Ryuzaki.

"Oh that's funny! That's just what I had been doing!" We both let out a slightly uncomfortable laugh as Ryuzaki excused himself to change.

Back on the elevator we stood in our overly casual clothing given the situation still snickering about the whole ordeal.
