"You know, I think I'll give it a shot!" It's not like I have much to lose, I might finally be able to get to know some of my classmates, and maybe I can figure out just how closely the strange peer had been observing me.
"That's great Y/n! I can't wait to see you there! It's going to be so cool working with a classmate on such an important investigation!" This time it had been Light that had spoken. For a man that comes off as deep in thought or meek he definitely doesn't shy away from conversation...
"Yes, it will be helpful to have two classmates that are familiar with each other on the team. Perhaps the two of you will allow us to close the case with more speed..." Ryuzaki spoke with his thumb pressed to his mouth in a way that made him seem like he was thinking, but his eyes stared straight ahead. It almost seemed like he had scripted his response ahead of time, how strange.
Ryuzaki's hand stretched across Light over to me with a business car in hand, with only a letter and an address printed on it.

"I trust you won't have difficulty finding it, it's a large building with security stationed at the entrance. Just show them the card and they should let you in. I'll see you there at 10AM this Saturday. Don't be late, or you might miss cake." His voice began to drop around the mentioning of cake. I wonder if cake is an acronym of some kind, surely he couldn't mean that literally!
12 Hours Later
It's getting late, even with the TV playing it wasn't enough to drown out the buzz of electricity going through cheap lights and the sound of cars racing past on the road. As I was getting up to brush my teeth a Kira broadcast appeared on the TV. It had been awhile since one had popped up, but regardless everyone in Japan knew Kira was still out there with the constant reports of dead criminals.
Citizens of Japan, hello. I am not gone, nor will I ever be. I am Kira. I am judgement. Rest assured you are safe from me if you live your lives in harmony with each other and within the law. The exception to this rule, is if you get in my way.
And just like that, the broadcast was over and everyone knew the reporters were buzzing again to be the first to publish an article about the ordeal. I'd had enough of all this nonsense, fear mongering th public to fit their own moral compass, playing God in the process. Kira was like a shinigami in of himself, a spirit of death.
Saturday Morning
Today is the day, I'm actually going to meet those two creeps in person, against my better judgement. So, as a precaution I naturally phoned one of my friends who was closest to the mapped location.
Hey Adreanna!
Oh hey Y/n! Is everything okay? You usually don't like to call... are you wanting to make plans for lunch? I'm actually already going out with Alexi today but we could try to-
Yeah everything's okay, actually I'm going to meet some classmates today but I don't know them very well. I'll text you the address, but you know how I am. I just want to be prepared should anything go wrong...
Oh! Sorry about that I'm just in a rush to get out so I'm a bit anxious! I'll still be close to home if you do end up needing any help! It's so good to hear that you're reaching out to your other classmates! Hopefully it'll help get you out more!
Thanks Adreanna you're the best!
Of course Y/n! I know you'd do the same for me! Well I've got to go but I'll keep my ringer on just in case! Bye!
Bye...
Even with Adreanna being nearby, I couldn't help but be a bit nervous, well, a LOT nervous but I haven't been out much the last year or so.
The address wasn't that far from my apartment so I decided to walk rather than get a taxi, which in of itself was unusual for me, but I wonder if Ryuzaki could have predicted I'd walk or not...
Finally I arrived at the address, and like Ryuzaki said, there stood a tall building with two security guards stationed at the front.
"Hello there, may I help you?" The guards were definitely acting as deterrents, strong physical physiques, and deep booming voices to match.
"Yes, a man by the name Ryuzaki gave me this card..." As I handed the card over to the guard that had spoken he looked me up and down menacingly, almost overly so as if it was his first day as a security guard. He bent and tilted the card, which was interesting to watch.
"Everything checks out. Through the door take the second right and the first left to get to the elevator and press the button for the seventh floor. They should be about to start cake." There was the whole cake thing again! What in the world could it mean?
"Thank you sir!"
As I entered the building, the lobby seemed almost too pristine, like the building had just been built. I would have thought construction had just finished yesterday if it weren't for the layer of dust on all the furniture and being blown up into the air with each step I took. I did as the guard said, I took the second right, the first left, and found myself in the elevator pressing the button for floor seven. The elevator was the one thing that showed clear signs of use, finger prints clearly on the buttons and metal shining brass rails inside of the elevator. Finally the doors opened to reveal the group.
"Ah Y/n! So glad you could make it! And just in time for cake too!" Ryuzaki was grinning from ear to ear, a cute but odd looking expression on his face. And in his hand was a literal piece of cake.
This guy just keeps getting weirder and weirder...
"Come and take a seat Y/n!" The person that had spoke was a giddy blonde haired girl seated next to light. Her makeup was honestly impressive in its perfection. Had she eaten yet? She couldn't possibly-
"Here! You can have my slice! I don't like cake, cake makes you fat!" She scrunched her nose in the way an idol would in an interview, cutely, adorably even.
"I actually found that you don't gain weight if you burn calories by using your brain." Ryuzaki was so focused on his cake he hadn't even noticed the blonde girl pouting in front of him.
"Are you saying that I'm-!"
"Misa he didn't mean that..." And then there was Light, seemingly annoyed by the blonde girl, Misa, as she pouted due to Ryuzaki's remark.
Finally Ryuzaki spoke up again, "Welcome to the Kira investigation team Y/n. Are you ready to begin?"
