A Cab pulled over near a Mansion House on Thames street, Coastal City. Ibrahim alighted, paid the bill and began to look around the street like a stranger. He haven't been at home for the past four months, and his dad usually send him money to pay his rent and to feed himself, and also buy things he needed. He glanced at their Mansion House, dreading what's in there waiting for him. He took a deep breath and then walked to the door apparently ready to face his parents. He knew the only reason they wanted to see him was about the fight at school, thanks to their complicated Principal whom has informed them. He pressed the door bell button twice and wait. To his shock and amusement he heard his mom upstairs in her room, telling one of his baby sisters to tell his younger brother Aliyu Musa to check the door. He grinned widely, apparently impressed by his ability to hear, see and sense anything from insane distance without any limitation.
Suddenly, the door snapped open, and there stood at the door, Ibrahim's younger brother Aliyu. He swung a wonky look at Ibrahim before he turned around and walked off. He and Ibrahim don't always get along. Ibrahim sighed, then walked in and shut the door close. His younger siblings rushed and embraced him happily clearly so excited to see their eldest brother back home after four months. Before he could react his mom and dad came downstairs obviously mad at him.
"Kids, go upstairs now. Your brother and we, got a lot to catch up." Ibrahim's mom said, as she swung a condemning look at him.
Ibrahim sighed nervously as his siblings went upstairs and his parents sat on a sofa staring at him coldly. He took a sofa opposite theirs, drop his backpack on it, and then lowered his head, wondering what they would soon say to him.
"Now, what should we begin with? Your anger issues? Your lack of going to your workplace? Or the fight?" Ibrahim's dad asked, in disappointment, as he glared at him.
"I'm so sorry mom, dad. It won't happen again, I promise! " Ibrahim said, sounding sincere.
"That's obviously not the first, second and third time we heard that. And it's clearly not the last time we would heard it!" Ibrahim's mom said, annoyed.
"Your boss called like hundred times, he wants to know why you don't show up at work." Ibrahim's dad said, with a sigh.
"I've been so much busy these days, especially with my projects." Ibrahim said, tenderly.
"You should've call him and tell him that, boy!" Ibrahim's dad said, angrily.
"I'm sorry!." Ibrahim said, with sigh.
"You were so lucky when your Principal called he didn't say anything about your performance, I would've grounded you for life!" Ibrahim's dad said, boldly.
"Thanks dad!" Ibrahim said, with a grin.
"Thank your mom, boy!" Ibrahim's dad said, as he got up to go back upstairs, but then stopped in his tracks as he recalled something.
"Aren't you and Abubakar friends since High School?" Ibrahim's dad asked, feeling puzzled.
"We are dad, it was a little misunderstanding. We are cool now!" Ibrahim said, sounding convincing.
Ibrahim got up, grabbed his backpack ready to leave as soon as possible before his parents vanquish him with unanswerable questions. He checked his wrist watch, it's almost 6PM now and he got a lot of things to do tonight.
"Thanks mom, I got a Cab to catch and a lot of assignments to submit tomorrow. Bye dad!" Ibrahim said, in a hurry, before he exited the house leaving his parents puzzled.
As Ibrahim stood on the road side he heard his dad asking if it was a girl causing him to behave like this. He smiled broadly, but as he looked ahead of him his heart turned cold and beating fast in shock. There across the street is Fateema standing on the driveway of what's clearly her home, and she's staring right at him obviously shocked as well. He sighed happily before he crossed the road to where she is.
"What are you doing here, gangster?" Fateema asked, suspiciously. She felt maybe he has followed her to see where she was living, but it is obvious to her that he lived here too, due to the fact she saw him alighted the Cab and got inside the House.
"What kind of dumb question was that? I live here too!." Ibrahim said, in a chuckle.
"Safreena was right, I shouldn't be talking to you!" Fateema said, in disgust.
"Good night, Fateema, see you at school!" Ibrahim said, with a half suppressed smile, before he walked off pulsing in annoyance.
Fateema stood there puzzled as she watched him stopped and hopped into a Cab. She shrugged before going back inside her house that's opposite Ibrahim's.
That night around 8:00 pm, Ibrahim was inside his apartment located on Abuja street, watching Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 9. He was expecting his best friends anytime soon and hopes they're all cool with their parents just like he's. Suddenly, he heard three knocks on the door. He quickly got up and rushed to the it, then opened it. There he found Khalifa and the others, whom quickly walked in and he closed the door.
"You guys were supposed to be here 8:30, and it's not yet 8:30!" Ibrahim said, feeling annoyed.
"What's the difference? It's 8:02 already." Raphael said, with a sigh.
Ishaq walked to the fridge, opened it and extracted four bottles of coke, shared them to Saoban and the rest. Ibrahim sighed before he walked into his bedroom and returned shortly with the piece of papers the deceased Dr James has given him that night on the highway.
"Well, I'll apologize in advance for not telling you this earlier." Ibrahim said, tenderly.
"Just get to the point, dude." Raphael said, curiously.
"What happened to us on the highway wasn't a curse, it was fate and even if we like it or not we must accept and embrace it." Ibrahim said, softly, as he gazed at Khalifa who likes calling their gifts a curse.
"Define fate!" Saoban said, curious, looking at Ibrahim.
"We got injected with a blue fluid that night which healed our wounds completely. in other words, it saved our lives." Ibrahim said, with a sigh.
Raphael exchanged a puzzle look with the others, then stared at Ibrahim for keeping the valuable information from them all these days. But what really confused them is the part that he said they were injected with a blue fluid which scientifically healed them, obviously granted them abilities beyond human capacity and capability.
"His name was Dr James as he told me, and working for some Aegis Corporation I never heard about." Ibrahim said, seriously.
"And where's he now?" Khalifa asked, curious.
"Dead, murdered by a group of gunmen that appeared shortly after he injected us." Ibrahim said, seriously.
"why?" Ishaq asked, puzzled.
"I don't know, but he gave me these, saying we were now the sworn protectors, and that we should keep them safe at all costs." Ibrahim said, in a serious tone, before he handed the formulas to his friends to see.
Khalifa and the others unfolded the papers to see what's on them. Raphael and Ishaq doesn't seem to know what they were, but Sauban and Khalifa does.
"What are they?" Raphael and Ishaq asked, curiously, in unison.
"Formulas!" Saoban said, shocked.
"The question is, what kind of formulas are they?" Ibrahim asked, puzzled.
"So now what?" Ishaq asked, curiously.
"We find out what kind of formulas we're dealing with, and about this weird Aegis Corporation." Ibrahim said, boldly.
"Count me out, dude!" Raphael said, sternly. He doesn't wish to invoke trouble to his family by pursuing something he don't really know, and something that could get him killed or worst.
"What?" Ibrahim asked, disgusted.
"count me out, because I don't want to end up in the middle of something I don't know or understand!" Raphael said, seriously,
before he got up to leave the apartment.
Ibrahim blocked Raphael's way feeling some kind of rage developing inside him he couldn't suppress much longer. He felt guilty and responsible if he didn't try to get justice for the deceased scientist who had saved their lives. He would get his answers by pursuing The Aegis at all costs, even if he have to break the law or leave pile of dead bodies in his wake.
"Get out of my way!" Raphael asked, in a fit of rage.
"Make me, punk!" Ibrahim said, angrily, as he locked eyes with Raphael.
"Look guys, you should calm down please!" Saoban said, tenderly, as he, Khalifa and Ishaq got up quickly.
"I think it's time to show somebody how mad I could be when I'm not on the same page with them!" Raphael said, feeling the dark power inside him, tingling in his arms; it almost felt as if the veins were popping out of his skin.
"Bring it on, dumb ass!" Ibrahim said, cracking a vicious smirk.
Raphael cracked a wicked smirk before he punched Ibrahim hard enough to send him flying to the wall. To their shock, Ibrahim paused in the air using his Telekinesis; then slowly put himself down clearly impressed. But Raphael who doesn't seem to be done lunged at him in a rage.
Raphael swung a decisive punch, punching Ibrahim on the face hard enough to break his nose. An enraged Ibrahim kicked Raphael sending him flying towards Saoban and the others thence, knocking them down in the process.
Khalifa and Ishaq got up and hold Raphael back from charging again, while Saoban stopped Ibrahim from charging as well.
"We need to figure things out. Fighting each other won't help!" Sauban said, disgusted.
"He's telling us to pursue something we don't know, pal. Something that could endanger us and our families!" Raphael said, angrily.
"I'm not forcing you to do it punk, we wouldn't be here if not because of Dr James!" Ibrahim said, his voice rising.
"I'm done hearing that crap!." Raphael said, disgusted, before he left the apartment leaving Ibrahim enraged. Saoban, Khalifa and Ishaq just took a seat trying to clear their heads.
Ibrahim stood there feeling that Raphael is ungrateful for turning his back on them, from getting their answers and also avenging the deceased scientist that saved their lives. He walked to Saoban and the others, took the formulas from them after he decided to do the work himself no matter what. He's not going to drag his friends into something they don't want to be part of.
"We'll figure things out." Khalifa said, softly.
"No need. Raphael was right." Ibrahim said, with a sigh, before he walked into his bedroom.
Ishaq exchanged a look with Khalifa and Saoban knowing the kind of person Ibrahim is. He never gives up so easily and he used to be more tougher than all of them when it comes to getting things done no matter the situation.
A Blue Range Rover pulled over on a restaurant's parking lot the next day. Dr Eddy alighted together with Frank, Anita and Creda flanking him. They walked into the building that's not yet crowded due to the fact it's very early. They spotted a man dark in complexion sitting at a large table together with five others apparently in their 20s; three males, and two females.
Dr Eddy grinned as he and his comrades approached the VIP table. He's only there because he believed Dr Karo Igho, the commander of The Waves can help him, due to the fact he has the ability to see the past, present and the future.
"It's been a while, Dr Eddy." Dr Karo said, with a grin.
"Yeah." Dr Eddy said, as he took a seat. Anita and her team took a seat as well.
"Just wondering why you wanted to see me." Dr Karo said, smiling. He's dark in complexion, with brown eyes and bald head.
"We both know why." Dr Eddy said, with a sigh.
Frank and Creda winked at the girls with Dr Karo whom were scowling at them. Creda took the cup of coffee that was in front of one of the girls, then sipped the coffee a bit and smiled at her.
"You're chasing Ghosts." one of the males with Dr Karo, John Edet said, in a serious tone. He's dark in skin tone, with brown eyes and dark hair.
"That's why we came here to know their identities." Dr Eddy said, boldly.
"The league of justice!" Dr Karo said, grinning widely. He already knew about Ibrahim and his friends, and about who they would become soon if they failed to eliminate them quickly.
"What?" Dr Eddy asked, puzzled.
"Tell me how you plan to get rid of them, and I will tell you their identities." Dr Karo said, sternly.
"I'm sending them and the mutants to destroy them, and get the formulas back." Dr Eddy, ruthlessly, as he glanced at Anita and her team.
"Them!" The two females with Dr Karo, Kendra Esan and Femi Grant said, in unison, with a chuckle. Kendra is a bit fair in skin tone, with hazel green eyes and black hair; while Femi is a bit fair in skin tone, with blue eyes and red hair.
"Yes, us!" Anita said, in a fit of rage.
"Hey, easy. We are on the same side here!" one of the remaining two boys with Dr Karo, Vincent Appiah said, tenderly. He's dark in skin tone with brown eyes and black hair.
"Well, the last time I checked they almost ruin everything." Femi said, mockingly.
"We have to rescue their asses!" Kendra said, in a chuckle.
"Cut the crap!" The other boy Jude Ochonogor said, sternly, as he glared at Femi and Kendra. He's dark in skin tone with brown eyes and dark hair.
"You can find them at Descent Memorial College." Dr Karo said, with a sigh.
"I want names please!" Dr Eddy said, tenderly.
"Here is their details." Dr Karo said, as he extracted a piece of paper from his lounge suit's pocket; then handed it to Dr Eddy.
"Contact me if you find them." Dr Karo said, with a grin.
"We're killing them!" Frank said, grinning viciously.
"Good luck then!" Dr Karo said, in a chuckle.
The commander of The Aegis Corporation got up and walked out of the restaurant with his favourite henchmen. Vincent and Jude exchanged a look wondering why their commander is not telling them anything about the credible threats that are likely more powerful than any of them.
At school, Ibrahim is at the lockers' corridor extracting his text books out of his locker while overwhelmed with the thought of finding The Aegis corporation. He has searched for them on the Internet, but didn't find anything related to the Corporation, which made him to think they doesn't even exist at all, and that Dr James has made everything up. He paused a bit as he recalled those unknown gunmen that appeared at the scene killing the doctor and taking away the body and his car to clean their mess. Deep down inside him he believed the Corporation exist somewhere.
"Let me just guess. I pissed you off yesterday!" A voice said, in a chuckle.
Ibrahim sighed, recognizing whose voice it was; Fateema. He turned to look only to find her with Safreena whom used to be a very close friend.
"And let me guess. You told her that, because that's what you used to call me back in the days!" Ibrahim said, glaring at Safreena.
"Yes, I did. Gangster!" Safreena said, sternly.
Ibrahim shut his locker close, still glaring at Safreena. She's lucky he ain't anything like Abubakar who beat anyone that got on his way. He cracked a victorious grin at the thought of it.
"What's funny?" Fateema asked, puzzled.
"She's lucky I don't hit girls like Abubakar. I would have...!" Ibrahim said, in a chuckle.
"You would've do what? Beat me up too?" Safreena asked, disgusted.
"I would've shove your face into a locker!" Ibrahim said, laughing menacingly. He then walked off leaving the girls shocked and confused.
Abubakar was at his locker scowling at Ibrahim as he leaves the lockers corridor. He's been watching him as he talk with his crush and Safreena the whole time. He planned to figure a way to get the new girl for himself; then suddenly he recalled there would be a school party tonight. He hoped his rival haven't ask Fateema out ruining his own chance like always.
"I still don't get the two of you." A voice said, in a chuckle.
Abubakar spun back and found one of his long time rivals since High School, Hashim Sa'ad. He looked puzzled as why he's even talking to him right now. Hashim used to be their mutual rival when he and Ibrahim were friends back in the days. But what seemed to confuse Abubakar is why Hashim is in their school.
"What are you doing here?" Abubakar asked, puzzled and curious.
"Oh, my cousin didn't tell you that I asked to be transferred here, to see what the best science students are really made of." Hashim said, in a serious tone. He's a bit fair in skin tone with brown eyes and black hair.
Suddenly, Abubakar recalled what he and Ibrahim together with the rest of the gang did to Hashim during their graduation. He believes Hashim came all his way here for payback just like he has promised to wreck everything they build until there's nothing for him to wreck.
"You came for payback!" Abubakar said, in a chuckle.
"It's good to see you again, Abubakar!" Hashim said, with a grin, before he walked off.
