Chapter 7: Cassandra

{Warning: Pico school spoilers, Mentions of a school shooting, clingy story line}

Picos side:

Pico and the kids were told they needed to go in search of other survivors and stick together. Pico didn't understand why they didn't just stay at home, but he decided DD probably knew what he was doing. He decided he would go and search his old school since it wasn't too far away and Nene was most likely camping their. He grabbed one of skids hands in one of his hands and pumps in the other and started his journey toward his old school.

On the way their, he made a point to tell Skid and Pump about the dangers of the outside world right now. "Skid, Pump. I need to be serious with you two right now." Pico said, stopping and bending down to their level. "What is it, Pico?" Pump asked, confused. "I need you two to stay safe. If you see anyone that is all purple that isn't Purple man, don't get near them and yell for me. Got it?" He said sternly. The two boys in front of him nodded, "Ok, but why aren't the others coming with us?" Skid asked, as they continued their journey. "Well, they have someone they need to go save, but purple man still wants us to go see if we can find any other survivors." He explained.

The whole rest of the way their, Pico held the two children close to him like a parent would their first child. He made sure they stayed mostly silent, just in case any infected were around. Once he finally arrived, he took a deep breath and opened the doors, allowing them in. They opened with a small creak and revealed a dusty and abandoned looking school. Papers and supplies were thrown everywhere around the halls and bullet holes could be seen from where everything went down. "Gosh I hate this place." he whispered and continued down the hall. Skid and Pump slowly followed.

He could hear faint sounds coming from the cafeteria, but he couldn't quite make out what was going on. "Pico, what is that?" Pump whispered. Pico pulled out his gun, aiming it in front of him, prepared for a fight. "I'm not sure, but I need you two to stay safe. " He whispered back. As they approached the cafeteria, someone flew out of the doors. Pico aimed the gun at whoever it was. It was none other than Cassandra.

"Cas!" Pico yelled in surprise. Cassandra groaned in pain and opened her eyes. "Wha- Prick-o. What the heck are you doing here?" She asked. Before he could answer, a table was thrown from inside the cafeteria. Cassandra was luckily fast enough that she missed it by a hair and pico pushed Skid and Pump out of the line of fire. "Crap!" She yelled, looking back in said room. "Who threw that, what is happening?!" Pico yelled, aiming the gun at her head. "Like I should tell you!" She yelled back running into the cafeteria. Pico followed. Their he saw his two former friends, Nene and Darnell, have been corrupted, and Cassandra was fighting against them. "Oh no." Pico mumbled, lowering his gun.

She jumped on it as it reached her and, while she was in the air, shot at her. It hit her, but Nene somehow absorbed it. It must've been the corruption on her body. "Pico, I'm scared." Skid shuttered, unaware that his other friend was approaching them. "I'm not sure-" before he could finish, Cassandra yelled, "Pricko, LOOK OUT!" Pico gasped and looked behind him, spotting Darnell about to throw a chair at them. Pico blocked Skid and Pump from being hit, but it hit him in his head, knocking him down. "OW." He yelled in pain. Cassandra threw another chair at Nene before running up to the group.
