The following morning Clara made her way to the Great Hall to talk to Sirius knowing full well she was in the wrong for avoiding him. She wanted to clear the air between them before things got too awkward. She noticed three of the four Marauders sitting down at the Gryffindor table, Sirius unfortunately being the one missing. Taking a deep breath, she walked over to the three boys chatting.
"Where's Sirius?" Clara asked sitting down beside James.
Remus gave her a halfhearted smile before suddenly becoming very interested in his plate of food. Peter shrugged his shoulders looking clueless as ever.
She turned to James looking for an answer from his best friend. "He needed to clear his head."
Suddenly feeling like she was intruding in on the boys she decided to be anywhere else but with them. "Alright then." Clara stood up. "If you see him let him know I'm looking for him."
He nodded. "Where are you going?"
"To sit with my friends of course." She smiled.
"We're your friends!" He scrunched his nose patting the seat beside him beckoning for her to rejoin the group.
Clara's uneasiness from the previous conversation dwindled at his remark. "You are. But I can't talk girl stuff with you unless –" She answered him knowing the topic of girl stuff always made boys uncomfortable.
"No! Go!" He pushed her away from the three of them, both Peter and Remus were snickering.
She laughed walking over to Marlene and Lily smiling at his reaction. "Morning ladies. No Dorcas or Alice?"
Lily shook her head. "Alice is sitting with Longbottom; she's got a thing for him." All three girls turned to look down the table watching Alice carefully. Clara could see from here the hint of pink across the apples of Alice's cheeks.
"Aww they're cute." Clara cooed. "What's his name?"
"Frank. Seventh year." Marlene chimed in. "Alice has had the biggest crush on him for the last year. She finally worked up the nerve to talk to him earlier this year. They've been getting closer over the last few months."
"They're sweet. He's really nice to her." Lily gleamed.
"And Dorcas?" Clara asked.
"She had to help Sprout with some prep work for the first years." Lily answered. Clara had learned Dorcas was gifted in Herbology. She went as far as to become Professor Sprout's assistant whenever she had the time.
"So, Wulf?" Marlene asked looking at her with a quizzical expression.
"Hmm?" Clara hummed piling food onto her plate.
"Why didn't you tell me your boyfriend was sleeping around again?" Marlene asked raising her eyebrows.
Both Lily and Clara shot their eyes up to Marlene. "Boyfriend?" Clara asked.
"Black."
"Shush up about that. He's not my boyfriend." Clara sighed. "Sleeping around?" An almost disappointed expression crossed over Clara's features. Clara felt her heart drop at those two words.
She nodded her head watching to see how Clara would react. "Audrey Dawlish." She pointed over to a Hufflepuff. "The girl won't stop talking about it. Rather annoying." Marlene yawned.
Clara studied the girl for a moment. She was rather pretty with blonde hair and strikingly high cheekbones. She could feel herself becoming increasingly jealous of the girl. She knew she couldn't be mad about Sirius sleeping around, making it very clear to him she wouldn't go out with him. So why was she feeling like she wanted to hex both the girl who had the widest grin on her face and the stupid boy who put it there?
