Clara was frustrated. She wasn't sure why, but she got talked into signing up for arithmancy and she absolutely despised it. Sure she had only been to one class, but it only took one class to realize how much she disliked it. It wasn't like the other subjects that came so easily to her. All it was was memorizing and looking at endless charts. She didn't care for numbers or predicting the future with them. It reminded her of her least favorite no-maj class, mathematics. She was smart yes, but numbers and math weren't her favorite. She much preferred classes like Potions or DADA that were hands on.
She decided to take the time and read her arithmancy book down in the library, away from the distractions of the common room. She hadn't even noticed the empty chair next to her was now occupied by someone. She looked up and nearly jumped out of her seat seeing someone next to her.
"Jesus Remus, you scared me." Clara put a hand on her heart for dramatic effect.
He smiled. "I called your name three times."
"That's embarrassing." She sighed.
"What's got you so focused?"
"Arithmancy!" She threw her hands up in the air. "It's so confusing and I'm only one class in." She frowned realizing just how difficult this class was going to be for her.
"I took that last year. Need help?"
She nodded fervently. "If you've got time, absolutely yes."
"You've got to help me with potions though." He looked at her nervously.
She gleamed. "Gladly. I can talk potions all day long."
The two of them spent the next few hours reviewing arithmancy and potions. Remus really knew what he was talking about with the arithmancy, Clara slowly started to come around to it. She still didn't like it but at least she could understand it. Clara helped Remus with the potions homework and explained in detail what the next steps were for their Veritaserum currently brewing. She walked him through the instructions step by step explaining where the book was vague giving him tips.
"Can I ask you something?" Remus spoke up as they were both working on other homework independently of each other. Clara looked up at him. He looked incredibly nervous, fidgeting with his tie.
"Of course, Remus." She gave him her most comforting smile.
He took a deep breath and began whispering. "Please don't ask why or for what I need this for. But do you know how or where to get aconite?"
She did her best to keep her face the same. But why in the hell was he asking about wolfsbane again? It was the main ingredient in the potion. Remus wouldn't stop fidgeting as Clara thought this one out. She was so curious as to why, but he did ask her not to ask, so she decided against it. "It is most often found in the wild. It can be bought from an Apothecary, but it tends to be quite expensive." She answered honestly.
