Clara woke up at 7:30 in the morning, the sun forcing her eyes open. She started to panic when she didn't recognize the room that she was in. Quickly realizing she was in a dormitory 3,000 miles away from home. She sighed but got herself out of bed. Today was the day, a new face in an ocean full of people.
While she was getting ready, she thought back to McGonagall's answer when she asked if there was anybody to look out for. McGonagall simply said, "Watch out for boys." Clara was perplexed, boys? She couldn't imagine they were all bad here. Clara had never been in a relationship, she never sought one out seeing all the hell it put her friends though. She did have a few flings here, a few hookups there but never anything serious.
Clara walked back to the dorm to put on her robes and looked at the girl staring back at her. Her appearance hadn't changed much since the incident, but she had lost some weight from her already thin frame – her cheeks looking a little too hollow for her liking. She hadn't noticed herself eating any less, but she must have. Clara frowned and used the glamour charm trying to hide her imperfections.
As satisfied as she could be she turned away from the mirror and walked out of the dormitory down to the common room. Nobody was here yet, still early, only 8:30 in the morning. Clara decided it was as good a time as ever to start exploring the castle. She wasn't given a map which confused her, she was given one at Ilvermorny. She did have her timetable with her which helped a tad, if only she knew where the north tower was. So, she decided to wander around, getting completely lost along the way. She made conversation with a few portraits along the way that helped her get back on track, some were kind some were downright rude.
After four hours of wandering around Clara seemed to have a very basic grasp of the castle. She could point out the library, the great hall and the courtyard. She also managed to find all of her classrooms. Something she was quite proud of. She felt like she was a first year back at Ilvermorny navigating all of the enchanted staircases.
Clara's stomach let out a loud growl as she was wandering about causing a few snickers from the portraits. She blushed even though there wasn't a single living soul near her. She made her way down to the great hall, unsure of where to eat. Nobody mentioned that either. There were four long tables decorated in each house's colors. She spotted her new house colors, red and gold, and sat down. Much to her delight a plate full of delicious looking food appeared before her.
"I was wondering when you would come to eat." She heard a booming voice from the front of the hall.
"Oh, hello Professor." She smiled to her headmaster sitting at a table at the front. "I hope you haven't been waiting long." She yelled over to him.
"Not long." He smiled, stood up and walked over to her. "How was your first night?" He asked as he sat next to her.
"Uneventful." She admitted. "Which is exactly what I needed."
"Good. Any questions you might have?"
She contemplated for a moment before answering, "Actually sir. Do the students, once they get here, typically come here or to their dormitories?"
