Sapnap woke up the next morning feeling determined. He had a positive outlook on the day ahead. He knew that blocking up his feelings is only going to keep affecting him negatively. He didn't want to live every day afraid of when he was going to break next. The only thing he could solve right now, or the only thing he wanted to see as an issue, were his problems with Dream.
He was reluctant to admit it, but avoiding Dream the past few days has been hard. He missed his best friend. While Dream did become more distant recently, Sapnap is the one that completely shut him out. He timed his trips out of his room when he knew Dream was in his room busy, or not at home at all. He also locked his bedroom door, which he had never done before and if Dream had knocked, he pretended he didn't hear it. He felt shitty about it. Carrying on like this would only make him feel worse each time he pretended Dream wasn't there. He didn't want to continue holding a grudge against Dream and talking to him about it would make him feel better.
For the first time in a while, he didn't time his exit from his room. He knew the probability that Dream was in the kitchen making himself breakfast was high. He was proven right the second he stepped out of his room and smelt the food cooking. He didn't know what was being made, but anything Dream made always smelt like it should be coming from a high-end restaurant. He walked down the stairs with light footsteps. When he reached the doorway of the kitchen he paused. Dream was facing away from him, focusing on whatever he was making.
Sapnap made sure to make some noise that Dream would pick up on. He opened the fridge and pulled out the orange juice. When he shut the fridge door and moved to get a glass out of the cabinet, he saw Dream had turned around and was watching him. Sapnap didn't acknowledge him yet. He got his glass and poured the orange juice. After putting the orange juice back where it belonged, he brought his glass over to the other side of the counter and sat at the stool. Only then did Sapnap look over at Dream and make eye contact. His eyes were widened like he was shocked to see Sapnap out of his room. Sapnap gave a small smile. Dream was the first one to break the silence that was gradually becoming more awkward.
"Hey Nick, uh, good to see you." Dream was one of the only people who frequently called him by his actual name.
"Yeah, whenever you have a minute I think we should talk. There's a few things I would like to say." He spoke strongly, he knew he needed to do this.
"Of course, we can right now," Dream turned off the stove and sat on the stool next to him.
"Sorry I've been kind of absent recently," Sapnap started and Dream went to interrupt, probably to tell him that it was okay. Sapnap raised his hand slightly and gave a small shake of his head, telling Dream to just let him finish. "I was upset for a little while. I know this is incorrect but I felt like you didn't care about me as a friend. You would never ask me to spend time with you if you were talking with George, and you were talking with him all the time. You only wanted to talk to me when George was busy, I was the second choice. We are best friends Dream, and I felt so shitty over the fact that you weren't even thinking about my feelings, telling me to go away, that you were busy, that you didn't have time for me," Sapnap was almost done, "I guess an invite to a call or giving me priority once would've been nice." After reliving how he felt a few days ago, Sapnap his throat got tight and his eyes sting. He felt like crying bringing up his emotions again.
Dream looked just about the same and Sapnap almost regretted bringing it up at all. He felt a million times better now though, like a huge weight was taken off his chest. He felt like he could breathe better and hold his head higher. He was starting to feel like his old goofy self. There still was a slight nagging feeling in the back of his mind but in light of this breakthrough, he figured he'd only deal with one problem at a time.
