Chapter 17

Jaden POV

Me, Ray, and Teonie had just arrived in New York.

I told him where the rental car headquarters was and he drove there to return the car.

We had our U-Haul waiting for us there.

We hopped inside and I told him where my old apartment was located.

When we got there we all got out and walked upstairs and went inside.

When we went inside, we saw Josh sitting on the couch. Teonie's eyes immediately lit up as she ran to him like always.

Teonie: Daddy!

I rolled my eyes as he embraced her in a hug.

He looked at me with a questioning look and continued to talk to Teonie.

Ray: You wanna start packing the bedroom first?

Jaden: Yeah.

We walked into what used to be me and Josh's bedroom and began packing up my closet full of clothes, shoes, and other accessories I had.

We then began packing my bathroom stuff up and other things around the house such as pictures and some of my candles.

I decided to leave Josh with the furniture. I'm just gonna invest in more when we get back.

Soon we were done packing up the other necessities, so we went and packed up Teonie's things in her bedroom.

After we got her room taken care of, we were done with everything.

I looked at Teonie who had fell asleep on her dad in the living room.

I walked over to them and gently grabbed Teonie off of him, careful not to wake her up, and left.

Right when we were about to pull off, Josh came out.

He motioned for me to roll down the window.

I was annoyed by him, but I rolled it down anyways.

Josh: Will you be back?

Jaden: No Josh, I won't.

Josh: How am I gonna see Teonie?

Jaden: I will bring her to you sometimes, but sometimes you need to come get her. Bye.

I rolled up the window as Ray began to drive down the road.

I told him I wanted to stop by the old diner where I used to be a waitress at before we left.

After he parked, I walked inside the diner and talked to my old boss.

Cece: Jaden! I haven't seen you in forever!

The big black lady pulled me into a long hug.

Jaden: I know. I just came back to tell you goodbye and I'm gone back home to California.

Cece: You will be back on visits?

Jaden: Maybe. I have to bring Teonie back every once in a while anyways. But here's my number. You know you were like a second mom to me when I was here.

Cece: Aww thank you. I will be sure to stay in touch! Where is Teonie?

Jaden: I was going to bring her inside, but she fell asleep and I didn't want to wake her.

Cece: Oh ok, I understand. You be safe. We love you.

She hugged me one more time as we said our love you's and goodbyes.
