When our parents came, I had done up a "introduction to the fae" book for them to read. It read: -

Goblins
There are two sorts.

The ugly mean-spirited ones that go after beautiful women. These abuse the women taken with no regard to their health.

The stunningly beautiful ones. These are the ruling warrior class of the Goblins. They take the ugliest females, give them a choice of 10 who they slept with until they fell pregnant. They then were deemed married to the Goblin who made them pregnant. Once the Goblin had a wife, they were withdrawn from the choosing practice, unless the girl absolutely insisted. This rarely happened.

These Goblins could be hired for protection duty for the price of an ugly female.

The ugly goblins would rampage and give Goblins a bad name. The ruling warrior class would often have to step in and remove these rabble raisers.

The goblins were ruled by the Goblin king.

It would be safe to say that beautiful women equalled dumb ugly goblins. Ugly women equalled beautiful, handsome, clever Goblins. The clever goblins were the ruling class usually.

As the goblins were dependent upon females been given to them, the fae tended to give them their ugliest. As fae were generally beautiful this was difficult. The only group that was ugly and thought ugliness was beautiful was the orcs.

To get around this misconception the orcs would get their daughters stolen by the goblins in infancy and raised by their ugly wives for the sole purpose of reproduction of the sensible Goblins.

Trolls
Usually live-in family groups under bridges. The bridges they live under are called Troll bridges; humans shortened it to Toll bridges.

Payment to the trolls either was a form of meat or gold depending upon their hunger.

Young males would set off on their own and establish their own bridges. Once established they send out for a troll female or they would kidnap a passing female that took their fancy.

Technically falls under the fairy monarchy rule. "Unseelie or the dark court", they were amongst the reasonable Unseelie.

Kelpie's (Waterhorse)
Either a black or white horse creature that lives in or near water. Can take the form of a human.

Can bewitch humans to be with them. If a human has chosen to be with them and they want to leave, the kelpie will enchant them to hope on them one last time and it is too their doom. Kelpie's will drown the person wanting to leave them so the spirit of the person lives with them for the life of the kelpie.

They have a bewitching singing voice, humans are weak to their singing.
Kelpie's desire human touch above all others as it is like a drug to them.

They burn Qi if separate from their human mate. They are happy to share their mate with another providing they never leave them.

Death of the partner who was going to leave stops this weakness.

Fall under the fairy rule, the current rulers being Caspian and DebraLee. Considered part of the Seelie or light court.

Elves

Are beautiful white human shaped creatures with long pointy ears. They can be either helpful or unhelpful depending upon their rank.

Tend to like seducing humans with magic. As they are a fickle creature it's best not for them to learn your name. If they take a dislike to you, they could make you sick.
