Kageyama didn't get any sleep.
That night, he spent it talking to Hinata, yes, his teammate and proper friend Hinata. Yes, the one he helped feel better, that very same one.
Then, he wrote on his diary, which he still finds absolutely useless. He has yet to ask Sugawara why he gave him such thing all of a sudden. And after that, he packed his bags for the trip. Guess he forgot, oops. But it didn't take him long, a week long trip to the beach can't possibly be so complicated to pack for. So he packed rather normal baggage, and of course his backpack, where he had his more important stuff, of course, including his diary. No one can ever open his bag, ever.
All this made in silence and in the dark of his room, because of course, he was still in facetime with Hinata. But the other boy had fell asleep, and Kageyama cannot risk waking him up until it's time for them to do so.
Once he was done, he decided to get sleep himself.
With his phone perfectly placed, he fell asleep on his comfortable bed one last time before the week ahead of him.
"Kageyama. Kageyama!" Hinata's sleepy voice was heard from the other side of the line.
To the raven haired boy, he had barely even blinked by the time he got woken up. And so he groaned, loudly, rubbing his eyes and stretching his body. A small frown on his face.
"Good morning." That voice, that groggy, sleepy, familiar voice made him feel more at ease. His frown vanished from his face, instead he opened his eyes. Suddenly remembering all that had happened that night.
"G'morning, dumbass." He replied, looking at Hinata, who was smiling widely at his phone, seemingly having enough energy to run his way to the beach.
"I have to go get ready, see you at school, Kageyama!" Hinata said, picking up his phone and smiling at it.
"Yeah, see you." The raven haired replied, hanging up after waving at Hinata one last time. Then, proceeded to shower and change into some fresh clothes. He, of course, decided on some sweatpants and a sweater, putting on his most comfortable pair of tennis shoes he owns and walking out of his house. Kageyama knew his mom had gone to work already, given that she never spends time at home and there were no signs of her being at said place. He couldn't blame her, she had to work enough to keep up a decent life, Kageyama recognized that and he understood it.
On his way there, he couldn't help but find himself falling asleep while walking. This caused him to nearly trip about five times before he even reached the school. He quickly spotted the rest of the team, who were all in the same position as him. Yawning, eyes closed, nearly falling asleep.
"Good morning, Kageyama. Give me your baggage, I'll put it inside." Takeda smiled at the boy, who was basically falling asleep on the spot. Kageyama nodded at him, yawning not long after.
"Don't you look tired." Sugawara approached the younger boy with a soft grin on his flawless face. Kageyama rolled his eyes at the comment, the action being quickly cut off by a yawn coming from Kageyama himself.
"Didn't get much sleep." He explained, making Suga hum in understanding.
"Well I'm hoping that journal I gave you knows why exactly." He teased Kageyama, poking his side once before walking away. The raven haired looked at Suga, completely amused at how smooth the older boy was.
"Hi guys!"
Kageyama turned around, only to see the small ball of sunshine walking over to the team. Hinata's smile was visible from miles away, he did look a bit tired, but that didn't stop him from smiling widely. Tanaka and Noya started bombarding the poor boy with thousands of questions, all about why he wasn't at practice the previous day. Hinata answered all of them vaguely.
