Kageyama's afternoon went by quickly.
Hinata and him had gone with different groups after a while, this being with Yachi and Kiyoko, and Kageyama found himself in a nice chat with Narita and Ennoshita.
So they didn't see much of each other, apart from a few stolen glances and shared smiles (mostly Hinata's, the raven haired still wasn't confident enough to smile in public).
Kageyama found a way to escape the beach and his teammates, as he found himself growing impatient. He couldn't wait to go back to the room and write on his journal about all that had happened. It was too much to keep to himself, and Suga was too busy with the second years to be able to talk to him. He was left with no choice. In a fast pace, he quickly made his way to the empty hotel room.
A sigh made relief wash all over him.
---
As he wrote the very last words, someone knocked on the door impatiently.
"Kags! Open up, you took the key!" Hinata's voice was heard from the other side of the door.
The raven haired quickly stuffed the journal back in his bag, and opened the door up to Hinata. And then, there he stood, the shorter boy with wet orange hair, flushed cheeks and tinted lips. Kageyama could not like him more at this point.
"Hi." Hinata whispered softly, with the hint of a smile.
Kageyama gave him a short nod, turning away quickly to hide his blushed face.
He made his way to his bed, laying it with his phone in hand. He scrolled through social media as Hinata seemed to have gone inside the bathroom to shower. The sound of the water falling onto the bathtub was heard in the background, as Kageyama found himself growing bored of the little he could do in his phone. And so he turned it off, instead turning on the TV. He switched the channel multiple times, nothing ever catching his attention much, until he landed in a sitcom that he had recently finished. He figured it would keep him entertained until Hinata was out of his bath.
The orange haired always found away to keep them both entertained, and normally Hinata would just talk about everything that would come to mind. Kageyama, being totally whipped, loved listening to all of the boy's stories.
Kageyama didn't realize how much his relationship with Hinata had shifted until that point. They used to base their friendship on pure bickering and playfully throwing fists at each other. Now, it felt different, it felt like they were more connected, and even if the bickering was still frequent, it was on a whole another level.
How did I not realize this before?
Kageyama wasn't used to feeling this way, and it still freaked him out from time to time.
He doesn't know how to behave around Hinata anymore.
Should I act as normal? Should I be closer to him? Are we friends? More? What did that kiss mean?
As if on cue, Hinata waltzed out the bathroom with a small smile of his lips, his hair still wet, but free of sand, he was wearing a generic white t-shirt and some black sport shorts to go with it. He sat next Kageyama, who was still watching his sitcom.
None said a word, but it wasn't awkward, there wasn't any tension. It was just them, and the sitcom in the background.
"Hi" Kageyama says softly.
"Hii" Hinata says back.
They both smile, Hinata's growing wider at Kageyama's (improved) attempt of a smile. The raven haired looked away quickly, embarrassed.
