Rowena jolted awake at the sound of loud knocking on her door.
She squinted her eyes open and mumbled something along the lines of: mhumaa...mmabnnunm..
"Get Up!"
Rowena reluctantly dragged herself out of bed and stumbled out her door and down the staircase.

Everyone's home was designed the same. You get a bigger house -which is just the house with an extension- in which case you are extremely rich or very powerful and that included about 2 of the people's houses in the village. Overall it was the same design. The kitchen and living room combined (with a wall that went halfway) was the first room you would walk into when you entered. there was a door in the back of the kitchen that lead to a broom/pantry and in the living room was a set of stairs that lead to a corridor with 4 rooms.
The one all the way at the end was the master bedroom, the one nearest on each side was the bathroom and a medium room. then there was one other room where the owners decided what to do with it. Rowena's house had a smaller room for her sister. Jen had a walk-in closet. It was up to you to decide. but no matter where you went the layout was the same. Rowena wasnt sure of the extension homes because she has never been in one.

Breakfast was the usual: A small portion of oatmeal and a glass of milk. Rowena was lucky to get an orange along side it.
Her family ate simple. there want much variety to their foods it was the same thing over and over again. Soup, edame, rice, cucumbers, oatmeal and bread. And mother would pair them up for meals. It was exiting when new combinations came but by now she had ate every one so many times till she was sick of it. She no longer enjoyed oatmeal, or mixing her soup into her rice to have new flavors, dipping bread into soup, she no longer looked forward to the day they would get roasted edame.
It was the same. Every day.

Mother observed Rowena and her sister as they ate "Abigail invited you to lunch" she looked at Rowena.
"Me?" No thanks I rather not, thank you very much. Rowena taught
"Who else?" Mother fed a spoon full of oatmeal to sangrila. "Be there at 12."

Arg fine. I'll go but I'm not happy about it and I have not forgotten! Rowena taught fiercely.
