Jack's POV
"I-I can't believe it." I stood there gobsmacked. Our worst nightmare had happened, Kellin had been taken in for questioning. But I didn't understand, how could J suspect him? How could his own father? We'd been so careful, covering every single track we made, so how was it even possible?
This wasn't how it was supposed to happen, this wasn't how it was supposed to end, it couldn't end like this. We where supposed to stay safe, until we found out who J was, we'd put a stop to him and leave the books alone, until we had to use them again, simply to keep Vic and Alex with us. And we where supposed to go back to being two normal teenage boys and live until the day we drew our last breath with the men we loved.
"H-His own father took him in...h-he had cuffed him, a-and blind folded him too. H-He told Kellin's mother they where going away for a father/son trip f-for a few days. K-Kellin believed that too, but once his mother was gone, h-he took Kellin. He looked so...scared Jack and t-there was nothing I could do." Vic sobbed and sniffed, speaking through tears.
"I guess his father requested he took Kellin himself." Alex sighed. "I don't think he actually suspects his own son, I think this is all J, and J wanted him brought in, and his father asked if he could do it himself."
"B-But how could J suspect him? J doesn't know him."
"He does..." Vic looked up at me. "J...J is that guy who's been going to the school the past couple of weeks."

My jaw dropped, J was...Josh Harding? Hang on, I remember Kellin telling me, it wasn't his true surname, I remember him telling me he felt like something was off about him. I remembered brushing him off and telling Kellin he was just being paranoid like he had been recently. I growled in frustration and kicked over my desk chair, I should've listened to Kellin. I should've paid more attention, I should've looked into this Josh guy further. But it never crossed my mind that J would expose himself like that, I never thought he would put himself at risk like that.
"I think that was the idea baby." Alex rested his hand on my shoulders and started rubbing them. "Calm down, we'll figure this out okay?"
"How though? They have Kellin Alex!"
"Well look, we got the back ups in place right? But before we decide to go ahead with one of the back up plans, lets think about this. Vic can track Kellin right? Vic can find where Kellin is and go undetected, so we can use that to our advantage. Vic can go in, and find out exactly what they have on Kellin, while providing Kellin with some comfort to help him keep it together. Then once Vic's got all the information, he can come back to us, tell us everything they know and have and we can work out a plan. Until then, don't stop writing names, otherwise that's going to make it look really suspicious if they suddenly stop with Kellin locked up. And I know you're currently wracking your brains for J's real surname but I really don't think it's wise to kill him yet. So, let's just, take a deep breath, Vic can get all the information he can and we can go from there. We're probably working with a short time frame, but we can do it okay? We will get him out, and then we'll finish J, and we'll do what we'd always planned okay?"
"W-What if they want to bring Kellin's friends in for questioning...in other words...me?"
"Well, if that's the plan, then Vic can tell us straight away can't he and we can come up with something? We have the back ups, so baby, don't worry okay? We'll fix this. I'm not letting you go, and I'm not going to let Kellin go down. So, please, trust me." He pushed hair away from my face, looking me in the eyes dead on, holding my face in his hands.
After a moment, I nodded. "Okay, w-we can do this. Vic can you track Kellin?"
"Already done, I will get all the information I can and be back as soon as I can. I-I just hope Kellin hangs in there."
"We do too." Alex nodded. "Go."
"Yeah, see you later." Vic nodded, bid his goodbye and left.

To say I was scared was an understatement, I was terrified. I always knew this was a risk, but, I never thought this would actually happen. It took everything I had in me not to write J's name down in the book straight away, but I realized it would've been pointless. J has a task force, consisting of Kellin's father and three others, to our knowledge. If J dies, they're still there. We had to get Kellin free before we could get rid of J, as hard as it was for me to resist. But then again, once Kellin got free, wouldn't it look suspious that he got free and then suddenly J died? It would, and we wouldn't be able to stop straight away either. We'd have to play this very carefully, but right now, we just needed to get Kellin  out of there and off the hook, that was our main focus.
