There was now forty names in my book. Forty scum bags gone from this earth forever, hundreds of innocent lives saved, protected, by me. The internet was blowing up with support, some had even requested certain people. Of course I only killed criminals so I didn't take the requests. Plus, if someone was to see all the names requested and then hack into my computer and saw I'd researched the names, well, I'd be busted. And I could not under any circumstances get caught.
I was already under that risk, because no doubt by now if the world caught on, so would the authorities by now. In fact, it was all over the news now. It worried me at first, but Alex soothed me. Reminding me as long as no one found the note in my possession there was zero evidence to link it to me. Not only that he reminded me that I could give up ownership at loose all my memories of the book. Meaning, if I became suspect, I could erase my memories and seem just as innocent as everyone else, only Alex would know, and no one else but me could see, or hear him.
I was safe, I would stay safe, so I pushed my worries aside and carried on, just ensuring I was more careful about it.I'd stopped using my laptop to find names and faces. I ensured all my search history was gone forever and started using various internet cafe's and libraries. I was sure to use fake I.D's and, as odd as it may seem, I'd attach cello tape to my fingers and thumbs so my finger prints weren't there either. Clever huh? I was going to go with gloves, but who sits in a library, with gloves on, in the summer? It would be a bit suspect. So I went with the cello tape idea seemed as good as any.
"Haven't seen you around before?" Some guy took a seat next to me. He had crazy spiked up hair, with a white streak like mine, tanned skin and stood, just a little shorter then me.
"Uh, I don't usually come here, my laptop broke and uh, need to do a paper for college." I inwardly cursed, I couldn't exactly go researching names with someone sat right next to me. They could very well be nosey and well, I couldn't risk that. Thankfully while I was researching names, I was actually doing school work too, and that's currently what was on the screen.
"Ahh that sucks. I'm Jaime by the way."
"Oh, uh, I'm Chris." That was the I.D I used in this library, Chris Redfield.
"So, what you studying?" God I wished he would shut up.
"English, boring right?" I chuckled.
"Ahh same here." He waved a English textbook in the air.
"What college you at?" I had to ask first, just incase he asked me and I didn't want to say the same college and get busted on the lies.
"Coppin State, you?"
"Oh cool, I'm at Towson University." I wasn't, I was at University of Baltimore, but minor detail.
"Awesome." He flashed a bright smile. I guess you could say he was cute, in fact he was really cute, but he was no Alex. There was silence for a while, which I was grateful for, I hated making small talk with people who ruined my plans, even if they where cute.
"So, what you like to do then? Like hobby wise?" He broke the silence, why did he do that?
"Oh, I play guitar." I shrugged.
"Really? Me too! And bass, I focus more on bass though, I just prefer it, don't know why."
"Maybe because it's easier and you lack the skills to do the hard work?" I teased.
"Ouch, harsh! I can play guitar perfectly well thank you, so I got the skills."
"Uh huh, sure you do." I retorted.
"Well aren't you a witty one." He grinned.
"I'd like to think I have a good amount of wit behind me, yes."
"Cocky too." He chuckled.
"I prefer the term confident."
We ended up spending the next half hour talking back and forth, he seemed like a funny guy, making lots of little jokes which where rather funny, he had me laughing. In fact, if it wasn't for who I was, what I was doing and that godly god that was at home in my bedroom right now, I'd probably try and see if he was gay and maybe make a move.
But I was who I was and I had Alex. As messed as it sounds, I'm pretty sure I was falling for him. I noticed every little thing he did. The way his eyes would crinkle a little when he smiled. The way he would clap his hands or his leg when he was laughing. The way his eyes lit up like stars in the night sky when we was excited.
The way his dark chuckle was like music to my ears, the way his eye brows where way to big, like mine but suited him perfectly. The way he would always play with his hair and the way I always needed cold showers after a make out session. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I was falling for a Shinigami, typical hey?
