Yoshi watched with his superior vision as Himiko and Tenko were invited into the church. He gasped slightly and nudged Ryu. "Th-they're inside! L-let's g-go!"
"YEAH! FINALLY!" Ryu dropped down from the tree and landed heavily. He pounded his fists together with a series of grunts.
Yoshi climbed down cautiously after him. "I'm g-glad you're excited, b-but…" He eyed the building, his bright red brows furrowing with worry. "Once w-we g-get over there, p-please s-stop yelling?"
Ryu chuckled. "Aw, man, sorry Yosh! I'll try my best!" He lowered his voice to a whisper that was somehow still louder than Yoshi's normal speaking voice. "What's the plan? Where we gonna start?"
"I g-guess we should s-split up…that's p-probably what the b-boss would d-do..." Yoshi bit his lip, clearly hating the idea. "If m-more p-places are b-being attacked then m-more p-people will c-come outside…"
"Sounds good!" Ryu grinned and clapped him on the shoulder. "You're cute when you're in charge!"
"D-don't s-say stuff l-like that!" Yoshi squeaked, blushing. "I'm already n-nervous!"
"You're cute when you're nervous too!" he cackled with delight.
With that, the boys separated. A scared and slightly flustered Yoshi maneuvered his large frame around the right side of the building as quietly as possible. Ryu lumbered around the left side, trying not to attract quite as much attention as usual. Fortunately for him, he no longer had to force himself to be subtle once he was in place. He simply had to punch various walls and windows, and run away once he heard voices. He wasn't a fan of running, but destruction was his specialty. He knew he could handle it.
Yoshi's role required a bit more finesse, but allowed him to stay hidden, which suited him fine. As he crept along the side of the church, he fired a few pellets at various walls and even the roof. He only avoided the windows, not wanting a stray pellet that had been corrupted with negative energy to hurt anyone inside. He was as confident in his aim as always, but not in the mission itself. If he and Ryu did their jobs properly, there would be people searching for them any minute.
Yoshi glanced around frantically for a moment, expecting to see armed guards and robots rushing toward him from all directions. Thinking about it made him feel nauseous and dizzy. He struggled to force it from his mind, which was never an easy task for him.
After several uneventful minutes of assaulting the church, he was beginning to feel better. Target practice was one of the few activities that could have that effect on him. He used nearly imperceptible stains and marks on the building as his targets, which allowed him to focus and calmed his anxiety.
Unfortunately, his eyes were built for sniping more than scouting. Whenever he focused on a target, his peripheral vision suffered heavily, preventing him from noticing anyone who decided to sneak up on him. For the one moment he had allowed himself to relax, this just so happened to be the case.
As Yoshi crouched in the grass in the shadow of a tree, a deep voice suddenly muttered close to his ear. "Enjoying yourself?"
Yoshi screamed, but it was cut short as the unseen person kicked him in the back, forcing him onto his stomach. He whimpered breathlessly as his arms were pulled behind his back and handcuffed.
"At least one of you isn't a wild animal," the deep voice sighed. "Stand up and come with me. Your partner has already been dealt with, so I'd advise you to be compliant."
Too panicked to argue, Yoshi followed the order. As he stood, he was able to observe the person who had attacked him. The first thing he noticed was that his captor was nearly as tall as he was, but his straight, haughty posture caused him to tower over Yoshi's timid, cowering form. The young man wore a black turtleneck, a pair of black slacks, and no shoes. He was pale, with long dark blue hair pulled into a bun.
