Clarke and her friends landed on the shore of a beautiful lake surrounded by a greener forest than they had ever seen before, and stunning hills that perfectly highlighted the sky with a color that could be described as singular. Clarke thought at once that it had been conceived as a jewel box to recharge her batteries and find peace. She felt reassured without knowing why and was immediately charmed by the beauty of the place and by the soothing blue of the water which captured perfectly the light of the cloudless sky. This place gave her the reassuring feeling of having finally arrived in a peaceful place, a refuge of tranquility.
"Wow! Now that's a view!" Murphy exclaimed as he took off his shirt and walked toward the water.
"Murphy wait!" Clarke rasped.
"The water is untested!"
But Murphy, true to his nature, didn't give up and dove headfirst into the lake.
After a few seconds, the little group began to panic when he didn't come up. Fortunately, he returned to the surface with a cry of victory! "Come on! The water is great!"
Jasper and Monty looked at Clarke as if to get his approval...
"You've earned this! Go ahead I'll stay and watch!"
The two friends didn't hesitate and joined Murphy in the water. Bellamy's absence suddenly came back to her, although it never really left of course. But seeing the three boys frolicking in the water like carefree kids put the weight of their responsibility on her back a little more. She wished Bellamy was near her to help guide them if this place was still hostile. Echo was gone now and even if the guys were far from being stupid, she still had the impression that they were far from being mature enough to keep themselves safe, except maybe Murphy who had a rather outstanding survival instinct...
Several tens of minutes passed before they reached the shore. Clarke had had time to scout her side of the shore as well as the entrance to the forest. And especially, she had scrutinized the sky a little longer, long enough to discover a more than enigmatic detail.
"You don't know what you've been missing Clarke! This is refreshing! It wouldn't hurt you to chill out a bit."
"I'll be revitalized when I find Bellamy! And Octavia. Besides, you were so busy wading around like kids that you didn't notice that there's definitely something still wrong with this world: look at the sky. Right there."
"Damn it!" yelled Jasper.
"2 suns!" Monty noted more seriously, more stunned by the improbability of this fact than frightened.
"I guess that means we're not in the right place yet."
"Well done Sherlock! Come on get dressed, we need to move on to find out more about this place. I found a path not far from here."
The three boys obeyed Clarke's wisdom without flinching and soon they all found themselves on a path that was not natural and therefore meant that there was human life on this planet. They crossed a small part of the forest and the path soon led to what looked like a field. They continued to follow it, and soon arrived at the top of a staircase that revealed a spectacle as strange as it was magnificent: a sumptuous palace, the construction of which had never had anything like it, overlooking a village that seemed to be built with all kinds of materials.
If this surprising discovery took their breath away, the fact that they still didn't see a living soul chilled them.
"This isn't normal! Nothing seems to be in ruins or abandoned! But where are the inhabitants? Honestly it freaks me out, it's like a bad horror movie."
