Give In"You had me followed by your men?" Bright asked plainly and casually that it came off as a statement rather than a question. His eyes glimmered with rage but he inwardly asked himself to be stronger than his emotions.
They were in the conference room of his company right now with Gigie, her family and his parents. A few moments of silence followed before someone spoke up, ignoring Bright's words.
"You called the arrangement off?" It was Gigie's mother. She was looking at her daughter with pure hatred in her eyes.
"It had been years but you both never even told us a thing." It was now her father who spoke with a scowl on his face. "Seriously?"
Bright scoffed at the absurdity of her father. "Have you even for a moment asked your daughter what she wanted?"
"You are both too young to know what you want."
Bright wanted to laugh. He didn't understand everything as much as he would never understand their parents. He could feel his blood boiling but he just rolled his eyes and didn't give another answer to his father as it was too early to start fighting.
No matter how much he tried to contain it, his mouth would work itself. "Being older doesn't make you smarter. Kids know what they want." He commented, instinctively.
"And what? You'll choose that prostitute over your own family?" His father retorted, giving him the same level of rage.
Bright tensed at the indirect mention of Win. He had been trying to keep his cool but now that he was mentioned, his blood boiled and he couldn't help but burst out. "Don't ever talk to him like that in front of me." His voice hung over the entire room.
He could see his shoulders tensing up, he was even sure that he could even hear the sound of his teeth gritting. When his gaze wandered over to Gigie's, he saw how her expressive eyes rested under a brow that was furrowed with concern.
"See? Is this what you learned from hanging out with that man?"
"I can't believe you two are choosing someone that's not even your level."
Gigie laughed without a hint of humor in her voice. "No. It disgusts me more that you all think you are superior because you have the power."
"Funny how you always say to me how life doesn't always turn out the way you plan." She continued. Her tone was calm but she seemed annoyed to an extent. "Now I realized you were talking about my life."
They stood in silence for a few moments, until Gigie raised her eyebrows at Bright and the latter took the hint to walk out of the room. He watched her leave and shook his head, a small smile on his face. He admired her for being this brave. He stood up, ready to follow her path.
"I'm stripping you off with everything the moment you step out in this room." Bright's father said the moment his son took a step as if he was about to bolt out but Bright didn't care about any type of sound and words that came out from the mouth of his father now.
He feigned surprise. His mouth went agape for a moment before he laughed. "Go on. I don't care. Stop involving us in your endeavors." He hissed between teeth and decided to walk out of the room as well with a deep exasperated sigh.
Before he could fully leave, he heard Gigie's mother saying "It would've been fun to have you be part of the family, but I respect my daughter's decision." And he could hear his parents going ballistic.
