One of the many things Jet had learned in his five years behind the walls was that word travelled quickly. More specifically, "unflattering" news regarding the clones and Scouts to the government officials. He and Anka stood at attention outside one of the rooms that hosted, what he assumed could only be, a very exhilarating meeting regarding such news, one which he was barred from listening in on.

"Corporal Jet," Anka spoke up, her gaze still locked ahead. "You are humming again." Another bit of information he had gathered was the temperaments of Pixis' escorts.

"Oh, thank you," he checked his posture to make sure he hadn't been doing anything else "unbecoming of an aide". "What do you think they're talking about in there?" As expected, Anka still stayed stone faced. Jet sighed and said, "Yeah, I figured. They're probably mad about the Titan we captured on the last expedition." His associate from the Garrison finally flinched and he could see her looking at him from the corner of her eye.

"The Scouting Legion was able to capture a Titan?" she seemed to entertain her curiosity. "But at what cost?"

"Not one," he proudly proclaimed. "We had our best on the assignment." For just a moment, Anka actually allowed herself to turn her head towards him, an impressed grin on her face. You're a lot more fun to talk to than Gustav he thought At least you don't hit me with a "I would like to request you refrain from speaking for the moment" every time... at least, you don't tell me that anymore. Eventually, Anka herself was called in to the meeting, giving a subtle nod to him before he was left alone. It didn't take much longer for the meeting itself to end, marked by the doors being furiously slammed open by the Royal Government's liaisons.

"A productive meeting, sir?" Jet asked after pledging to Commander Erwin.

"I'm afraid I can't share too many details with you about this meeting, Jet," Erwin said as the rest of the attendees left. "But something tells me you'll find out anyway."

"Sir?" was Jet's only response to his Commander's sly smirk. Commander Erwin bid farewell to the Commander of the Garrison before he and Jet left, the possibly-drunken older man waved back with Anka close behind him, but tripped forward and into a vase, which Anka was barely able to save and set back unharmed.

"We should check to see if he's alright," Erwin's order sounded like a suggestion.

"Commander! Are you okay?" Jet asked the old sot.

"Commander Pixis! This is exactly why I've repeatedly urged you to cease your drinking!" she rapped the back of his bald head. "At least while you're on duty."

"Ms. Rheinberger, please," Pixis rubbed his head and side. He seemed ready to act in a manner befitting of someone of his rank, but shifted his expression when he noticed Jet. "When you've spent as much time standing idle behind the Walls and being forced to listen to politics as I have, then I may listen to your advice to abstain."

"You aren't hurt, are you, Commander Pixis?" Erwin asked as a courtesy. His older contemporary gave them a knowing wink.

"These old bones have been through worse, Erwin," he smiled and left with his aide. "Try not to concern yourself with it too much. It would be a shame for you to go bald at your age." The two men watched their departure.

When the members of the Garrison were out of sight, Erwin said, "That commotion has oddly left a strange ringing in my ears. It should clear in a few seconds." Jet realized the jig had to be up by this point, but appreciated the man's discretion. The second Erwin turned around, Jet grabbed the vase Pixis had collided with and shook out the folded pieces of paper within.

The young Trainees cheered in the mess hall. After three long, grueling years of rigorous training, they had finally completed their trials. While the instructors agreed to let them have their night, given they not cause too much of a ruckus, a small group of clones joined them. The already small group continued to shrink as they completed each roll of the "chance cube", as they had called it.
