For the first time in their year with the inhabitants of the walls, the men of the 501st and 212th were finally leaving the walls to fight alongside the Scouts. All they had to do was stick to a simple plan; set up resupply points every 25 kilometers to prepare for the eventual operation to retake Wall Maria. However, courtesy of the titans, it was now necessary for the Scouts to set up auxiliary resupply points every 5 kilometers along the route to those 25 kilometers away.
"First checkpoint, five clicks out," Gel transmitted. "If any of you die this close to the wall, I will personally jettison your bodies."
"I'll blame it on Trytt forgetting to pack my juice box," Ani said.
"I told you to pack your own lunch, di'kut," Trytt retorted.
"Keep the comms clear and keep a lookout, boys," Deniye interrupted. "I'd rather kill your joy than let a titan kill you." It didn't take long for Blok to appreciate the Major's concerns.
"Two five-meters heading towards the right flank," Bryk reported and loaded a smoke canister. "Deploying smoke."
"Roger that," Jet confirmed as streams of red smoke began to fill the sky in rows. "Relaying to the Commander." Seconds later, Jet added, "Changing course due West. Smokes on the way." True to his word, green smoke began being relayed back to their position.
"How do we wind up seeing the first ones?" Blok asked.
"Beginner's luck," Bryk said.
"We got lucky, alright," the squad Captain, McDonald, called back to them. "They could've been a lot bigger and they could've been abnormals."
"I thought you were being assigned to one of the Relay squads, sir," Bryk said respectfully.
"I'm not going to babysit," McDonald dismissed the comment. "They can serve with me once they're not starry-eyed... if they survive."
"We've got three abnormals on the left flank!" Boost reported. "Two 15s and a four! Smoke out!"
"One abnormal charging the rear!" Ec called out. "Seven meters! Firing smoke!"
"It's like an ugly baby," Ani sounded like he smelled something rotten.
"Roger," Shutz acknowledged. "Get ready for company!"
A few seconds later, Fel added, "Osik, one of em's crying... and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have to take a pee break anymore."
"Like I said," McDonald huffed. "We got lucky. Can't say the same for the rest."

"Rear titan down," Ec reported.
"We dropped one of the 15s," Watcher added. "But the other 15 and the four got through and we lost one. Goodluck, Relay Squads."
"Look alive, everyone, we're about to have company," Fel ordered. "Are you still crying Bozado!?"
"Yes sir, he is," the other recruit, Gunther Shultz, said.
"Are your friends in the machines on their way?" their Squad Leader, Corporal Martt Reed, asked.
"Tell him to have some karking patience," Sam retorted. "This thing can only go so fast. I'm not a miracle worker."
"Or a worker in general," Burn jabbed. The two titans were now within view. The 15-meter limped its way over with the four-meter clinging to its leg with an unnerving grin.
"We can set the kill up for you, sir," Fel offered the Corporal their assistance.
"As long as you come back and watch the small fry when you're done," Reed was already steering his steed towards the threats. The brothers exchanged a nod and broke off from their squad and moved to position themselves behind the advancing titans before loosing a laser barrage at the 15-meter monstrosity's Achilles tendons. Within seconds, the back of its feet were obliterated and the titan pair came crashing forward.
