Rick walked out the front door and to the porch. He had told everyone else to go back to sleep. They all had heard Marie and Daryl arguing. Rick wanted to make sure his brother was okay. He knew how much he loved that girl.

"Everything alright?" Rick asked him as soon as he spotted Daryl sitting on the stairs smoking a cigaret.

"Yeah" Daryl nodded his head at him. He didn't like sharing his problems with everyone.

"You sure? we heard you arguing" Rick walked over to him. Daryl closed his eyes and took a long drag of his cigaret. He held in the smoke for a few second before letting it to.

"She feels like she don't know me anymore" Daryl sighed, taking another drag of his cigaret. Rick could hear the sadness in his voice "she feels like I don't love her"

"And do you?" Rick asked immediately, looking at him for a reaction.

"More than anything" Daryl smiled slight "loved her since we were kids"

"Then prove it to her" Rick smiled at Daryl.

"How?" Daryl scoffed "she's pissed at me and then there's this damn kid after her"

"Kid?" Rick asked confused.

"Yeah, damn kid walked her to the house, kissed her hand." Daryl spat, it was obvious he was jealous "was waiting for 'er to apologize. Im just wastin' my damn time"

"You not wasting your time" Rick shook his head "maybe, pay more attention to her. Make her feel like you do love her"

"Do I look like a romantic to you?" Daryl scoff, taking a drag from his smoke.

"The biggest one i've met" Rick scoffed back at him sarcastically "she locked herself up stairs, you should go check on her"

"I'll check on her tomorrow" Daryl grunted "she's asleep"

"How do you know?" Rick asked confused. It was weird how they knew each other so well.

"She would always sleep after crying or arguing with someone" Daryl sighed at the memory "that or she would would buy a tub of ice cream" Daryl internally smiled "biggest mess I've ever seen"

"Too bad we don't have ice cream" Rick chuckled at what Daryl just said "we can get Carol to make some cookies"

"Yeah" Daryl mumbled, barely paying any attention at Rick. He was too busy thinking how he was going to get Marie to forgive him.

"Hey" Rick caught Daryl's attention "talk to her, don't let things get worse between you two.

Daryl knew what he meant by that. He didn't want what Lori and him went through. Rick never got the chance to make things right between them before she died.

"I will" Daryl nodded and glanced up at the sky. He was gonna make things right...

Rick started making his way back inside the house, but stopped and looked back at Daryl.

"Word of advise Daryl" Daryl looked at him with confusion "don't give up on her"

Daryl knew he couldn't give up on her. Although there were times he wanted to, he couldn't. He loved her.. he didn't say it, but he did. He knew that she knew that. Even thought he had only said it twice since they've been together. It was hard for him to say it. The last person he felt like that about died and left him to deal with the rage of the man he called 'father'. The beautiful woman that didn't get to meet her son's first love.

Even thought she wasn't the best mother, she was there for him. She would take the beating for him when she could. Noticed him when no one would, just like Marie did. She was always there for him. Always had her arms opened wide for him to be hold in. He loved her, but just couldn't find the words to say it.

He slowly reached into his vest pocket, pulling out a worn out picture he had. It was of him and Marie when they were young. He doesn't remember who took the picture, but he was grateful someone did.

They were about 14 when the picture was taken. They were down my the lake Marie loved so much. They were both in shorts and a t-shirt, their clothes wet from swimming. Marie was looking at the camera with a smile as Daryl was looking at her. He had a smirk on his face, but his eyes held a certain spark in them. It was love.

He was in love.

But he couldn't bring himself to tell her, not yet at least. He wanted the perfect moment to come, but it never did. They always had an argument or something happened. When they argued they wouldn't speak for days. It made them feel like they were falling apart, like they were giving up on each other.

"Don't give up on her"

Ricks words echoed through his head. Maybe this time he should listen to someone. Maybe he shouldn't give up on her.. he wasn't going to give up on her.
