The next chapter or so is going to be a flashback.

Marie slowly made her way to her small beat up car. It was late in the afternoon and the sun was going down. She had just left her anatomy class and was going home from college. She was wanting to hurry up to cook Merle and Daryl supper before they went to bed. She had gotten out later than usually as she had stayed a bit after class to get some extra study time. She was looking in her purse for her keys that she seemed to have lost somewhere in there. She wasn't really paying attention where she was going and bumped into someone. The other person caught her as she was falling back from the hard impact."Wow, careful there" a soothing voice told her "you should watch where you're going"
"I'm so sorry" Marie blushed in embarrassment. She knew better than to walk and not pay attention. It was something Daryl always scolded her for doing.
"It's not problem" the man smiled at her.
'He's got a cute smile' Marie thought as she looked at him. He had blonde hair that reached to about his ears. His eyes were a hazel color and he had freckles that scattered around his cheeks. He was good looking.
"You seemed to have lost something" he said looking at her with a hint of worry.
"Uh, yes my car keys" Marie said as she still couldn't find them "I have no idea what I did with them"
"I could give you a ride home if you'll like" the man offered, a blush on his face as he spoke.
Marie thought about it. She never was one to talk to strangers, but she didn't own a cellphone so she didn't have anything to call Daryl with.
"I don't even know your name" Marie said with a bit of a worried tone.
"My name is Dylan. What's yours?" He extended his hand out for her to shake.
"Marie" she smiled at him and accepted his ride home.
As they drove to her house they talked about their what their majors were, what classes they were taking, what high school they went to, and what they did outside of school. They had gotten to know each other some what.As they pulled up in front of the house she stayed with Daryl and Merle, she sighed. She felt like the car ride wasn't long and she lived about 30 from campus. Marie pulled her wallet out to give him some gas money, feeling bad for making him drive all this way.
"Don't even think about it" Dylan shook his head, smiling at her.
"It's the least I could do for making you drive all this way" Marie argued with him, pulling out $15 out of her wallet.
"Tell you what," Dylan gave her a flashy smile "you could make it up to me by going on a date with me this Friday?"
Marie was shocked. No one had ever asked her out on a date.
"Sure" she smiled at him, a blush on her face.
"Awesome" Dylan smiled at her "I'll pick you up Friday at 7"
Marie nodded and got out the car. She waved goodbye to him when she made it to the door. She watched him as he drove off in his red convertible. She made her way inside the house, she could hear the sound of the tv. She made her way into the living room to find Merle with a beer in his hand watching tv. Before she could say hi to him he spoke.
"Daryl isn't going to like it when I tell him a guy dropped you off home" he didn't even look at her as he spoke, too busy watching an old movie.
"I lost my car keys and I didn't have a phone to call him" Marie defended herself, slightly irritated with how Merle was making a big deal out of things.
"Well instead of asking for a ride you should have asked for a phone"
Marie shook her head at him, not wanting to start an argument and went to her room to drop her stuff off.
She was hungry and she assumed they were too.

After supper, which wasn't filled with a lot of talking, Marie left the brother to mingle in the living room as she had homework to do. She always tried to stay caught up with her homework as much as she could. A knock interrupted her from her concentration."Come in"
Daryl opened the door and threw some something at her from where he stood. It was a key.
"Merle told you" Marie stated more than asked as she put the key in her purse. Daryl nodded his head at her and didn't say anything. "I didn't have another way home"
"You could have called me" Daryl said, a slight of irritation in his voice "and before you say it's because you didn't have a cell phone I'm sure that fancy college you go to had to have one"
Marie shook her head, she knew he would say that.
"Dylan was very nice and didn't seem like he would hurt me Daryl" Marie sighed, hoping that he wouldn't had made a big deal. But what she didn't know was that the sentence that had just come out of her mouth had pissed him off.
"Dylan? You seem to know this guy pretty well" the attitude this man was giving sounded toxic.
Having had enough of the short conversation, Marie got up to kick him out "I'm not talking about this with you"
"Why not? You hiding something?" Daryl glared at her, not moving away from her door. Merle had told him about Marie being in a car with another guy.
"I'm not hiding anything" Marie groaned, annoyed with his behavior.
"You sure?" Daryl asked slightly relaxed.
"Well," Marie looked away and mumbled "he did ask me out on a date and I said yes"
Daryl got quiet at what she said. Marie grew worried as she didn't hear a reaction from him. She looked up at him to see his face red with anger. He glared at her and gave her a look she couldn't described. He shook his head and stormed out of her room and into his, which was down the hall, and slammed his door.
Marie rubbed her face with her hand. His reaction was better than she though it would be.
