"Meeting you was like listening to a song for the first time and knowing it would be my favorite"

The morning after they both had woken up at different times. Marie had chosen to sleep upstairs away for the group while Daryl stayed in the front porch keeping watch. Sleep was something he never really got so it didn't matter to him. Staying in the porch gave him time to himself, time to think about everything that's been going on. But think a lot always made him doubt himself, which always made him over think things.

What if she likes that guy better?

What if he makes a move on her?

What if she leaves him for that guy?

Daryl couldn't offer Marie much. I mean you can't necessarily win someone over by hunting them squirrels everyday. Daryl couldn't give her affection or flowers and chocolate. He couldn't take her out to look at the stars or on romantic picnics. Heck, he can't even bring himself to say 'I love you' to her. He's just not want she deserves. She deserves someone who can give her that and even more. She doesn't need someone with emotional issues. Then again, if he ever saw her look at someone else the way she looks at him, he knew he'd have lost his everything..

Approaching steps is what snapped him out of his thoughts. His guard immediately coming up when he saw him. He couldn't help, but glare at the kid with dislike. The sound of his voice made him dislike him even more.

"Hey" Alex stopped when he was in the front porch. He looked at Daryl awkwardly, not liking the way he was being looked at "is Marie here?"

"What you want her for?" Daryl gave him a pointed look.  Jealousy was clear in his tone.

"Just wanted to talk to her" Alex gulped. He knew that look very well. It's not that he was a player, it was just the look guys gave him when he spoke to their female friend.

"Come back later" Daryl snarled at him. His fist started itching for some odd reason, but he had a feeling he knew why.

"I won't be able to" Alex said nervously "I'm going out on a run soon, I just wanted to say goodbye"

"Well tell her after you get back" Daryl fought the urge to roll his eyes.

"Okay" Alex murmured slightly confused. He slowly turned around, ready to walk away. Daryl released a sigh when he did, he just wanted him gone.

"Wait," the kid stopped and turned back around to look at Daryl "are you her husband or something?"

Daryl stayed quite for a few seconds. He had to process what to say to him. He needed to say something that would make the kid stay away.

"Yeah, I am" Daryl looked him in the eyes as he spoke.

"Oh, uh, sorry to bother then" Alex looked away crushed. He immediately turned around and walked away. He should have known. Daryl felt slightly satisfied as he watched him walk away.

That should keep him away for a while.
