YN:
Of all the people I expected to show up at the cottage behind Emira were my parents. I knew right away that their presence couldn't be good. "Can... can we come in darling?" My mother's voice was hesitant, almost as though she expected me to reject her. I stepped back immediately and nodded. After crossing the threshold, my mother took off her traveling cloak and draped it over her arm then took a look around the cottage.
"Would... would you like something warm to drink your majesties?" Jungkook's voice was shaky and I could see he was nervous. It was the first time I had seen him less than confident and the vulnerability touched my heart.
"Tea would be lovely." My mother nodded at Jungkook, not making it a secret that she was studying the man in front of her.
Jungkook turned to my father, his face pale and his hands trembling at his sides. "Got any whiskey?" My father's voice was calm, but his request surprised me. I had only seen him drink on two occasions. Once when I turned 21 and the other when I married Soobin and both times it was simply champagne. Knowing he requested hard liquor was shocking to say the least.
Reaching into the bag at his side, Yoongi pulled out a flask. "If they don't, I do." He held the flask up to my father who took it gratefully, giving Yoongi a grin. Yoongi turned to me, his eyes filled with amusement. "Don't look so surprised gorgeous. I had plenty of time to get to know mom and dad on the way here. We're practically besties now."
Shaking my head, I ruffled Yoongi's hair, knowing it was something he hated. "You are something else, but it's why I adore you." Not having grown up with royalty, Yoongi was unaware of the customs, the behaviors that I was required to follow. Although we had been friends for so long, sometimes I figured he just didn't care about the customs. They didn't really affect him.
My mom patted Yoongi's shoulder in agreement. "I can definitely see why he is your friend. This young man right here is pretty special." Yoongi blushed at her words, his cheeks turning a startling shade of pink.
"I... I'm going to go help Jungkook with those drinks." Yoongi hurried out of the room, the need to hide his flushed face perfectly clear.
"Um... did you want to sit down?" I gestured towards the sofa and my parents followed me over there, Jin and Emira trailing behind. "How... how did you know where I was?"
My mother looked towards Emira and my best friend ducked her head. "Sorry YN. They were worried about you. Especially after what happened during the opening ceremony. I had... I had to tell them where you were." The guilt was clear on her face and I hated that my friend had been put in such a difficult position.
I moved to her side, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Oh Em. It's perfectly all right. I completely understand." Emira gave me a grateful smile and I kissed the top of her head. "Not to worry my dearest friend. You did just what you needed to do."
At the clearing of a throat, I turned to see my father, his face serious. "Would you like to tell us about what's happened since we saw you at the wedding?" Crossing his arms, my father leveled a look at me and I knew he meant everything.
Taking a deep breath, I moved back to the sofa by my mother, sitting next to her and taking her hand, like I did so many times as a child when I thought I was going to get in trouble and needed her reassurance that she still loved me. My mother squeezed my hand, easing some of my fears and I began to tell my parents the events that had taken place.
"On... on the day of the wedding, I found out about Soobin's affair with Mina. I walked in on them in a... compromising position. Soobin made it very clear that the marriage would be in name only, that he had no feelings for me and he would continue to see Mina." Releasing my mother's hand, I twisted my fingers together, almost afraid to continue.
