- Ava's pov -

I didn't like this. I want to go home.

Being thrown onto the ground, I land on my arm oddly, causing pain to run up it and pulsate where I had been hit.

It hurt, it hurt, it hurt.

Angry voices shout something but it all seemed muffled, all my attention on my injuries. My arm hurts, my shoulder hurts, why dose it hurt? There was a mean man with hair that made him look like a palm tree, was he the reason? My thoughts quieted for a moment before the answer came, he was.

He said he took me. Why did he take me? Something about being like Itachi-nīsan... Dose that mean Itachi-nīsan was taken too? ...No, that wouldn't make sense. If he had nīsan than I wouldn't be here.

Rolling onto my back with a grunt, I look around. I was in another dark room where the only light came from torches. What caught my eyes though was another set of eyes looking back at me.

Narrowing them to see in the dim light, I saw that it was a boy. He had black hair and eyes like Sasuke-nīsan. Actually, where was Sasuke-nīsan, was he here too? Looking around again, this time with a purpose, I quickly discovered it was only me and the black haired boy.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice a bit scratchy from crying.

"I am myself." The boy replied, a blank expression on his face.

He looked to be my age but his lack of emotion threw me off. Maybe he was like me...

"I meant your name, mine is Ava Uchiha." I answer, struggling to sit up and doing so with a lot of effort.

The boy was silent for a moment before speaking. "I don't have one."

"Well," I say, blowing a few pieces of hair out of my face, "that's going to be a problem."

This confused the boy as his head moved a little to one side while his eyes narrowed. "Why?" He seemed confused as to why a name mattered.

"What am I supposed to call you?"

"Boy, that's what everyone else calls me." He immidetly responces.

"Boaring." I state, moving my hair out of my face and glancing at my arm and scrunching up my face. It wasn't pretty, different colors were starting to appear. "Don't worry, I'll figure something out."

Looking back over at him, I finally notice that we're separated by a low wall. While it looked like we were the only two in the room, there was a low wall that seemed to cut the room into three different areas. One for me, one for the boy, and one that was empty. I could see some stuff piled in the area but couldn't see from where I was, so I guess someone had claimed that area.

"Do you know where we are?"

"Underground." The boy simply answers though his attention seemed to be taken by a book in his hand. He had a pencil and was scratching all over it so I guess he was drawing.

"Who brought us here?"

"ROOT." Another voice answers instead, causing both of us to look over at the source.

A boy with with gray hair was the one who had spoken. From how the black haired boy reacted, it seemed as though he knew him. It looked a bit older than me and the black haired boy though.

"I assume you don't have a name either?" I ask, glancing at the boy.

The pain in my arm and shoulder was beginning to die down and I couldn't tell if that was a good or bad thing.

The gray haired boy chuckles and approaches me before kneeling down next to me.

"Correct, but I do have a code name. Shin." The boy, Shin, answered before a green glow covered his hands.

Placing his hands on my arm, I noticed that the pain way fading away along with the colors.

"What are you doing?"

"Healing you with chakra." Shin answered like it was obvious, "You must have caused the leader trouble."

"The palm tree guy? All I did was insult his hair and fashion. I thought it was obvious."

Shin pressed his lips in a firm line as a grim look settled on his emotionless face, one similar to the black haired boy. "If you want to survive, you can't do that."

I raise an eyebrow at this, confused as to why he was serious now.

Seeing my confusion he continued. "In this place, if you don't follow orders you die. If you don't act as they want, you die. If you so much as breath the wrong way, you die."

My eyes widen at this. I look over at the black haired boy to see if was true, only for fear to take root inside me as he nodded, not even looking up from his drawing. Turning back to Shin, he seemed to have finished healing my arm as the green glow was now gone from his hands.

"The Hokage will find us, right?" I question, my voice quiet as I ran the situation I found myself in my head.

My fear only intensified when both boys shook their heads. I don't think I would be eating tomatoes with Sasuke for a while.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

A week has passed and I quickly understood what the boys meant about doing as told. I had watched as other kids were dragged out of the training room screaming. The ninja training us didn't even seem to notice as they kept leading the group in fighting stances we had to master in two weeks.

If we didn't, well, the screams never seemed to last long for those dragged out.

"Faster!"

Picking up the pace, I follow along with the lead ninja's movements. They begin to get faster and faster though and it soon began to become hard to follow. I was going to join those screaming, wasn't I?

My pulse picked up as I followed the lead ninja and I couldn't help but notice the watchful eye of the ninja watching us. Panic filled my chest, making it harder to breath. I didn't want to join the scream.

Just as I thought I would mess up, pain shot through my head and pulsed in my eyes. I couldn't spare the movement to hold my head in pain or take the luxury to stop and figure out what was wrong. All I could do was continue to follow the lead ninja.

Something wet trailed down my face and all of a sudden my eyes were able to keep up with the leader. My body was a slower than my eyes but I managed as the lead began to slow down. Eventually we were dismissed back to our quarters, the same room I had been thrown in when I first arrive.

It was when I finally got back that I was able to look to see what was wrong. Looking into the reflection my cup of water provided, I saw my eyes were blood red with a black spec in them. I had gotten the Sharingan.

Mom was going to kill me if I didn't die here first.
