I smiled as I read the tweet from Andy over and over again. I had just woken up after being in labor for 12 hours. Andy was with a nurse, giving Catherine her first bath. I winced as I sat up, my bottom half was seriously sore.
Right at that time, Andy walked back into the room, holding Catherine.
“Hey, beautiful.” He smiled, handing me our daughter.
She was so gorgeous. She had just a little black hair growing on her little head. Her skin was porcelain, just like her parents’, and she had beautiful blue eyes.
As I stared down at her, Sammi, CC, Jinxx, Ashley, Jake, and Ella all came in smiling.
“Oh my god, she’s beautiful.” Sammi whispered, putting her hand over her mouth.
CC walked over and held out his hands in a pleading gesture, and I handed Catherine to him.
“Hi, Cat.” He whispered, smiling down at her. “I’m your uncle CC. I promise I’m gonna love you, and let you eat ice cream, and let you stay up after midnight. I love you.”
He passed her off to Sammi, who was completely broken down. “Hey, angel. You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I love you so much, Catherine. You hear that? Aunt Sammi loves you.”
Catherine was handed off to each person in the room, and they each spoke to her. Ella also cried when she had her. After Ella was done holding her, she handed her to Andy and then they all left to give us some privacy.
“Hi, Catherine.” He said quietly, smiling widely. “You’re my first baby, so I’m going to have to get used to this; but I think I’ll do okay. Just remember that I love you. I may yell at you sometimes, and I might get angry, but you’re my angel, my princess. You and your mommy are the two most important girls in my entire life. I’d do anything for you two. God, you’re so beautiful.” As I watched him speak to her, I could see tears rolling down his cheeks. “I can’t wait to see you grow up and follow your dreams and be who you want to be. You do whatever you want with your life, okay? As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. Your mommy and I love you so much, Cat. Maybe you’ll follow in Daddy’s footsteps one day and be a rock star. Maybe you’ll be as beautiful as your mommy.” He looked over at me and smiled. “All I know is, you’re my baby. I’ll do whatever I have to to protect you, okay? I love you so much, Catherine. I love you so much.”
He got up quietly and handed Catherine to me. “I’ll be right back, I got to, um, talk to Jinxx.” I laughed quietly as he walked out of the room wiping his eyes.
“Hi, baby.” I smiled, looking down into Catherine’s wide blue eyes. She smiled up at me. “You’re so beautiful, angel. Daddy was right when he said we love you. You’re our entire world and we love you with all of our hearts. Daddy and I have gone a long way to get here, and you’re our prize. I love you so much, Cat. When you get older I’ll braid your hair and let you play with my makeup and play dress-up with you. When you start school I’ll cry and miss you, and when you graduate I’ll be so proud of you, angel. I’m already so proud of you. Thank you for being my baby, Catherine. I know that sounds weird, but thank you. I love you, Catherine McKinley Biersack.”
