“Ben did what?!” Andy shouted, lurching up off of the bed.
I sighed, standing up as well and grabbing his arm gently, pulling him closer to me. “He kissed me.”
Andy gently shook my hand off of his arm and turned around, quickly hitting the wall with his fist. I could clearly see the fury in his eyes as he paced around our bedroom. He crossed the room quickly and opened the door, with me close on his heels.
“Ben!” He hissed, taking the stairs two at a time.
“Andy, just stop! Please!” I begged from behind him.
He ignored my pleas as he leaped off of the bottom step, not slowing down at all when he spotted Ben sitting on the couch. Ben jumped up quickly, putting his arms in front of him. Andy reached out and shoved him, hard, against the wall.
“Andy!” I shrieked as Danny ran towards me.
“Don’t try to break them up.” Danny whispered in my ear. “You’ll just get hurt.”
I watched in terror as Andy hit Ben in the stomach, chest, and face over and over. I could feel the tears rolling down my cheeks as Ben refused to hit him back.
“Stay right here.” Danny told me.
I nodded as he moved away from me to grab Andy’s arms from behind him, yanking him back. Andy didn’t fight against Danny’s hold.
I quickly ran over to Ben and helped him up out of the crouch he’d fallen into.
“Are you okay?” I whispered.
He nodded slowly as I helped him over to the couch. As I sat down next to him, he smiled weakly before wiping my eyes gently.
“Okay,” Danny announced to all of us. “What in the hell is going on?”
“He kissed Cora.” Andy hissed, glaring at Ben.
I sighed. “Andy…”
All three of them looked at me, waiting for what I was going to say next.
I took a deep breath and looked Andy right in the eyes. I had to be a big girl about this.
“I kissed him back.” I said evenly, wanting to die when I saw the expression on Andy’s face change from anger to pain.
Andy slowly ripped out of Danny’s grasp and walked up the stairs. I watched him until I could no longer see him anymore. I stood up immensely slow, figuratively crawling towards the stairs. I felt the weight of what I’d done pound down on my shoulders more and more with each step I took. By the time I was in front of our bedroom door, I had tears rolling down my cheeks.
I turned the knob slowly, surprised that he hadn’t locked the door. He was sitting quietly on the edge of our bed, staring at a framed picture of us from last Halloween, I had been Catwoman and he was my Batman.
I sat down next to him and, without saying a word, he turned to face me and gently put his arms around my waist, laying down backwards and pulling me on top of him. He tilted his head up and kissed me roughly, almost exactly like Ben had. His hands explored my body as he kissed me. I kept both of my hands on his face and neck.
After a while, he stopped kissing me. Just like that. He sat up with me still on his lap, before grabbing my waist again and sitting me down next to him.
“Cora…” He whispered, taking my hand and looking into my eyes.
I felt my heart begin to race.
“I think we should see other people.” He said.
I felt my heart break. Not a slow, take your time pain. I felt a crushing blow to my chest as he said that. I took my hand back and ran out of the room, before sitting down on the top step of the stairs and wailing loudly as tears flooded from my eyes.
