Cora's PoV

I felt the wind blow through my hair as I fell from the tower. I closed my eyes as I waited for my body to hit the ground. I heard the faint screams echo through the air and before my body hit the ground beneath me, everything went dark and silent.

"Cora..."

"Cora, darling...wake up..."

"It's time to go home, my love..."

I opened my eyes to see a sky full of bright stars. I blinked a couple of times to get my eyes to focus on my surroundings and I looked around and realised I was in a field of flowers.

Lillies to be exact.

I looked around to see trees blowing in the wind. Fireflies were flying around, creating a light glow in the air. The sight took my breath away and a slight smile appeared on my face.

"Cora..."

I turned to the source of the voice to see a familiar face. Her green eyes focused on mine as her red hair blew in the wind.

"Mum?" I whispered.

She nods and holds her arms out. I slowly walk over and she gently wraps her arms around me. I wrap mine around her waist and snuggled into her.

"Is this...the afterlife?" I asked.

"More like the waiting room for the afterlife." She says, pulling away from me and kissing my nose.

"So that means..." I say, but stop myself.

She nods again.

"I'm so proud of you, darling...I know it wasn't an easy decision."

I swallowed and let out a sigh.

"As long as they're safe."

She smiles.

"They are now."

I smile and we hug again.

"Come on," she says, grabbing my hand. "The others are waiting for you."

"The others?" I asked.

She smiles and starts leading me through the trees until we arrived at a lake. The water glistened in the moonlight and a warm, gentle breeze brushed against my skin.

"It's beautiful..." I whispered.

Mum smiles and squeezes my hand.

"This is where you cross over..."

I looked at her in confusion.

"Cross over to where?"

"To the afterlife." She says.

"Oh..."

We then hear the faint sound of voices. We turned to see three figures making their way towards us. My mum lets go of my hand and folds her arms.

"You're late." She says.

A man steps out from the shadows.

"Oh come on, Lils," he says. "When are we ever on time?"

He lets out a chuckle and his brown eyes turns to mine.

"Hello sweetheart..."

I smile.

"Hi dad..."

He walks over to me and holds my hands.

"You've grown."
