DENVERGoing back to their house, I couldn't help but feel happy. It had nothing to do with me being with Roya or Jordan. Well a little bit. But I was happy because for the first time, I did something a kid would do.
I visited an amusement park.
Me. Denver Miller. And I enjoyed every fucking second of it.
Fuck I sound insane but was this what I didn't get in my childhood?
The only place me and Dave used to play as kids was in Dad's office with either office supplies or the documents that were unimportant enough to be handed over to us.
This was new. Sure me and my friends have gone on trips and drives but nothing like this.
There was this innocence in today. Something so pure that it hit right at my heart.
The drive was silent, mostly because Anna was sleeping. I did notice Ian glancing at me once or twice on a signal but maybe he was just checking up.
We reach and he parks next to Jordan's car in the driveway of Roya's house. I was about to unbuckle myself when Ian held my wrist to stop me. It wasn't a hard gesture, just a quick reflex from his side.
I looked up and met his glance in a questioning look.
"Stay as quite as possible," he whispers looking in the backseat and I smile at his care for Anna.
I nod my head and gently unbuckle myself when his hand leaves. He follows and we slowly open our doors, shutting them as silently as possible but the wince on Ian's face tells me he expected pin drop silence.
Fucking whipped.
You too buddy. My inner self tells me and I smile at the thought.
So fucking whipped.
As Ian carries Anna inside and Jordan carries Roya, me and Dave stroll along them. Dave helps open the door and they head upstairs.
I move into the kitchen and get myself a glass of water when I notice Dave coming in too and get one for him as well.
"So," he says, sipping.
"So," I match his tone. I have no idea what he's getting at.
"Today was.." he trails off, finding the right word and the fact that Dave doesn't have a word to describe his feelings tells me just how he feels.
"Happy?" I smile at him, leaning over the island.
"Yeah," there are creases on his forehead.
"We deserve to be happy," I tell him.
"Shit, did we switch roles or something?" He chuckles and I follow him.
"But," he starts and I realize this is what he really wanted to say.
"But.." I urge him to carry on.
"What's up between Roya and you?" He dives straight into it and if I had water in my mouth, I would've spit it out.
"Roya and me?" I try to sound confused.
Key word. Try.
He sees right through my eyes. Fucking mind reader abilities.
"Roya and you," he give me an amused look, nodding.
And as I try to use some time to think while I sip on my water, he drops another bomb.
"And Jordan," he adds, thr hint of a smirk behind his lips.
And this time I do choke on the water.
