ROYA
The morning after, I wake up at 6 because of work. I get ready and leave a sticky note for Anna and Ian.
I take the bus and head to the cafe. I open the door greeting Lana, my senior. The cafe opens at 7 and I usually start at 8. Lana comes in at 6, starting all the machines and mixing all the material. She heads home in between and comes back for a few hours in the evening to close the cafe at 7. There's more staff too, but during my shifts its just the two of us due to summer breaks.
"Morning Lana," I say tying my apron.
"Morning Roya," she smiles pouring someone's coffee order.
"What time are you in till today?" She asks.
"The usual, four." I say clearing us a little mess.
Our cafe is of a decent size and has a woody feel to it. There's a thing continuous table with high chairs that stretches on the both sides of the entrance and has a glass window view to the outside. A few tables with 2 chairs each on the left side and a couple brown coloured bean bags on the right side of the work station with is right in front of the entrance. The floor is wooden and there are ceramic pots with leafy plants around. The aroma of coffee and sweet snack hits you when you enter the cafe and light music keeps playing in the background. All in all, I'd say its a homey cafe. You feel peaceful here.
Lana nods and then we work. Soon, its four and I pack up my stuff. Jordan came in five minutes ago to give me a ride home when he got to know I took the bus here. I take two cups of coffee and brownies to the side of the long table he is sitting behind.
Just then the door to the cafe opens and I lock eyes with Denver. He smiles and moves towards me.
"Hey," he says and nods at Jordan who nods back.
"Hey, Brownies?" I offer.
"Whoa, these are good." He says biting into one.
"I know, I made them." I smile.
"Gotta come here more often then." He says.
"You only get them on the days I work," I chuckle.
"What's up?" I ask because he won't just stroll in here on a Sunday.
"I was in the area, thought I'd check the place out, didn't know you were working today." He says.
I was about to reply when my phone ring interrupted me. Ian. I apologize and pick it up.
"Yes Saunders." I say, Jordan smirks and I roll my eyes.
"We're going out to check this bar tonight, tell Jordan." Ian says.
"Yes boss, Denver's here too, I'll let him know as well." I reply.
"Cool, Dave already knows. Okay bye gotta go." He says and hangs up before hearing me reply. Typical Ian.
Denver raises a brow at me.
"We're going to a bar tonight, Dave already knows." I say.
Alright, I'll see you then." He says picking another brownie piece and nodding at Jordan who again nods back. I then realize Jordan didn't say a word since Den came in.
"Why so silent?" I ask him.
"Just enjoying my food." He smirks biting into his third brownie?
I smirk, we finish up and head out. He heads to our apartment with me because apparently he doesn't need to get ready, and if he needs something, he'll steal something from Ian.
