** CLOVE'S POV **
We reach the training center and my trainer, Talia is there waiting for me.
"You're late" she says
"I know sorry" I say Talia looks at Cato
"Go find your trainer" she hisses. When he leaves she says "Don't let that boy distract you, ya hear" i tell her that Cato was just a friend. "Watever" she mummbled. "Go to the knives" she says more clearly. I went off to the knives and the younger kids have terrified faces on as I walk passed them. I dont blame them I'm the best knive thrower in panem. I grab 5 knives and push the big red botton to start. The dummies get in their spots and I watch them like a hawk to see when one glows up. The first one lights up and I run to a flip and right before I land let the knife fly. Bullseye. The next to two light up I throw the first one normally then the second one I throw facing backwards. I turn around and see they both land dead in the middle of the target. Another one lights up and do a cartwheel backhandspring and then let throw the knife. Perfect. I hold the last knife in my hand and watch as the final dummy light up and within seconds i flick my wrist and let it fly. Dead center.
"And that's how you do it!" I hear Talia yell. I spin on my heel and when I see the faces of the kids that were watching a smirk forms on my face. "Clove, can i talk to you?"
"Yea sure"
"I want you to work on the survival skills"
"What!!!!!!" I yell in her face
"Now! You know infection and other stuff besides a weapon can kill you"
"Okay your right, if I want to win I gotta make a sacrafice" I head over to the survival stations.
"Good girl" I hear Talia say, for some reason that makes me angry, I'm a career not a wimp.
I reach the stations and become kinda upset. I don't understand why I have to do this. Yea I mean things beside a weapon can kill you, but I will get sponsers and they will give me stuff I need. Plus the stuff at the cornicopia. Its just unfair, while the other kids get to use weapons and I'm stuck here learning how to make a fire. Which by the way iI learned how to do 2 years ago.
** CATO'S POV **
I'm chopping off dummies' body parts when i hear someone yell. "WHAT!!!!" Right away I know it was Clove. I fight the urge to go over to see what happened. I decide to talk to her after training. I slice dummies until my trainer tells us it's time to go. I start to walk away when someone taps my shoulder. I spin around and see Ashley. She is one of the most popular girls in the district. She pushes me to a wall and starts kissing me. I try to push her away but she pushes me back, she is surprisingly strong. Ashley jumps up and puts her legs around my waist. I hear a gasp and me and Ashley turn our heads. My eyes go wide when I see clove standing there. Her eyes are filled with tears, but i am the only person in the world that could tell.
