The air was thick with angry tension as the two royals stared at each other with fury burning bright in their eyes. "We have to investigate! If Prime can block Farsight he could get away with hurting so many innocent people. I need to know why!" Peekablue pleaded. The rest of the room sat in silence. Too scared of getting caught in the crossfire to even move a limb. They held their breaths as the fighting went back and forth.
"And risk other innocent lives for information to save innocent lives that might not even be in danger?" Glimmer shot back. Her face was set with a cold anger. She would not budge.
"I see so many lives I can't save so I'd like to see the lives I can save. He could be getting away with anything and he's involved with the League for the Eye's sake!" He argued back, instead of a fury he was disputing her stubbornness with desperation. "This could be easily won if we can see his plans. He has the upper hand!"
The young Queen's glare remained unchanged. "You weren't there for the first war so let me catch you up. We won." Her voice was lowered but her tone was frigid and hard. It sliced through the hearts of all that heard it. Catra's wrath was scary but Glimmer's was legendarily terrifying. "Without Farsight." She spat out with all the bitterness she could muster.
"Oh I remember quite vividly. Remind me again, how many innocent people died when the Rebellion refused to have more direct attacks? The Rebellion was being cowardly. The first war was a mess. It's only thanks to She Ra that we're still here." His once desperate tone had now become just as bone chilling as Glimmer's.
"Cowardly? You really want to talk about cowardice?!" She chuckled. It sounded wrong. It was a laugh devoid of humour. Like a smile with dead eyes. Like a joke with nothing to find funny. "You're the biggest coward here. Where were you during the 'mess'? You were hiding away in the Crimson Waste." After uttering those words regret clouded her vision.
Peekablue's previous anger faded to a neutral expression. The silence was so deafening that Glimmer felt she might have lost her hearing. Sharp, sapphire eyes cut through her and looked directly into her soul. It made her feel trembles down to her bones.
"You have no idea what I was doing in the Crimson Waste. I took out nearly a dozen clone camps during the war against Horde Prime. On my own. I survived being part of the deadliest gang on Etheria. And I've had the Eye telling me where to go and what to do my whole life."His voice was a normal volume but the quiet, dangerously angered tone seemed louder than if he shouted. "Don't ever call me a coward." As he exited the room, no one reached to stop him. No one dared to risk his soul shattering glare and rage as hard as steel.
No one apart from Double Trouble that is. The sound of his heeled footsteps slowly diminished as he walked further and further away. They got up. Wordlessly they left the room and went to search for their enraged boyfriend.
