As his eyes fluttered open, he squinted at the brightness. It was still day. At least he hadn't slept for too long. The first aid room was a large, marble dome. The white brightness did ensure being able to see any dirt but it was blinding with the rays of the sun gleaming through the window at the top. Although the intricate carvings of heroes etched into the walls was fascinating. Glimmer had commissioned it to honour the heroes of old, problematic as some of them were but he didn't want to ruin her fantasy.

Peekablue stretched his arms out. A satisfying relaxation coursed through him. He stopped squinting and adjusted properly to his Farsight. He was hungry. Too much magic really took it out of him. The prince scanned all of Bright Moon. Everyone was...sleeping?

A few minutes later he quietly cracked his bedroom door open. Wincing when it squeaked slightly, he opened it further. It squeaked even more. In the end he decided to just rip off the band aid and swung it open. The door smacked the wall with a bang. Oops.

Double Trouble jumped up from bed with crazy hair and the bedside knife. They had murder in their barely open eyes. "Who. The Fuck. Is smashing doors. At  this time in the morning?" They spoke calmly but he could tell he was in trouble. "Hello my love." His voice came out like a whisper and a very concerned look as he observed his grouchy lover with a very, very sharp object in their hand.

Upon hearing his voice their eyes opened wide. They dropped the blade and pulled him into a tight hug. He hugged them back. They were smiling with relief which quickly dissipated. He was definitely in trouble. "Darling." They pulled back. "You pushed your limits." The stern tone was very unnerving although had to admit...it was kind of attractive.

"It's fine. I didn't sleep as long as last time. It's still day! But why is everyone sleeping-" It took a few moments to hit him. "Oh. I slept through the night." For a few seconds they just stared at him. He thought they were going to laugh at his lack of braincells until they sighed. They sighed very heavily.

"We even talked about this with Micah. You used it earlier in the day didn't you?" No humour or teasing this time. He had worried them and it did not feel great. It was easy to see why though, last time he'd only been unconscious for half the day. "I may have used it once or twice or four times that day?" He admitted nervously avoiding the pang of guilt he would inevitably feel if he had to look into their concerned expression.

"Four?? You only had to use it twice to be knocked out! You need to pace yourself! Even Micah said so."

"If I want to get better I need to push myself. I'm not at the level a Lapis seer at my age should be at, I've got some catching up to do!"

"By exhausting yourself?"

"My body will get used to it over time!"

"What if Horde Prime launches a surprise attack and you can't warn us because you're asleep in the dome?"

"If I expand my abilities they'll be even more useful! Anyway I'll probably get a vision before that happens."

For some passing moments of blissful uncertainty he thought he'd convinced them. Until their worried eyes  began to tear up. "What happens if you push yourself too much? What happens then, Peekablue?" They couldn't lose him. Not like they'd lost everyone else. He had alive and in their life up until now and he was destroying himself. Peekablue was silent. They couldn't read his expression let alone see it through the tears that were uncontrollably blurring their vision. "Peekablue I was worried, really worried. You slept through the rest of the day and the night."

"I need to go a bit further than my limits sometimes if I want to get anywhere." Double Trouble looked away, biting their tongue to prevent another pointless attempt at persuading him. "But I will take it easy if it's any reassurance." He stepped forward and wrapped them in a tight hug, burying his face in their shoulder. They nuzzled his hair softly. "Thank you my Prince." They wrapped their arms around in response and held him as if they would never let go. They weren't even sure if they would. "Please promise me something."

"What is it?" His warm breath caressed their neck. Their grip tightened a little and he squeezed back. It was so hard to think when everything about him was filling their senses. They loved it despite the fuzziness of their thoughts.

"Promise you'll never leave me."

"Only if you promise too." His voice would have been barely audible if he wasn't so close to their ear.

"I promise I will never leave you." Neither could see the other's face but they felt the giddiness in their smiles.

"I promise I will never leave you."
