The One That Got Away (Draken)

NOTE: This is in the future, where all of them are all grown ups.

"Y/N, you're coming, right?" Hina asked you.

You two are in a cafe, catching up about everything about your lives.

"Of course, I'll be there." You smiled at Hina reassuring her.

The day went by and you bid your good bye with Hina.

"I'll look forward on seeing you!" Hina said while waving good bye.

"Yes, I'll surely come. Take care!" You said as you started to walk down the road.

When you got home, you slumped down on your couch. The tears that you've been keeping at bay earlier that day is now freely running down your cheeks.

You hugged you knees and continued to cry.

~Flash back~

"Oi, Y/N. Come here." Draken motioned.

"Yes, Kenny?" You asked.

"Can you help me with this?" Pointing at the question in his book.

"Sure!" You answered, happy to tutor him.

You were best friends with Draken since you were kids. He helped you out with your bullies and that is how you met him. After that incident, you always stayed with him.

It was a normal day when you saw Draken walking with a blonde boy who is much smaller than him.

"Kenny!" You shouted to get his attention.

"Oi, Y/N. You go home first, I need to do something."

"O-okay." Is all you could reply. It is the first time that Draken will not walk home with you and it made you feel anxious.

"Don't worry. I already taught your bullies a lesson. They will not bother you anymore. Take care." Draken said while patting your head.

His words reassured you.

You didn't know what happened but Draken spends most of his time with the other guy, your used to be walking home from school together is now gone.

You were heartbroken about this as he is your one and only true friend.

"Kenny." You whispered when you saw him laughing with the other kid.

"Oi, Y/N come here." You were shocked when you saw Draken called you. You slowly come towards their direction.

"Mikey, I want to introduce to you my best friend." Draken said.

The smaller blonde boy just stared at you while sucking at his lollipop.

"Y-Y/N." You lowly spoke while reaching out your hand.

"Mikey. From now on, you are also my friend." Mikey said.

Draken seem to be happy with the result. His two friends have met and they are now both friends.

That is how you both met Draken and Mikey. The two boys who became your friend and protected you.

It was summer break of elementary school when Emma came.

"Pretty." You heard Draken say when you both go visit Sano's residence.

You have to admit that you were hurt since you like Draken.

Ever since Emma came, Draken liked her but he does not show it. He only shares it to you.

"Y/N, I think I already love Emma." You are now both in middle school and Draken's sudden confession about his love for Emma shocked you.

"Why don't you court her?" You asked him. Trying to cover up the pain in your chest.

"I will but not now." Draken said, smiling at you. "Make sure to help me out!" He continued.

"Of course."

~End of flashback~

You are now a crying mess. Mascara ruined and your lipstick is smudged.

"What if I told you how I felt about you?" You bitterly asked yourself.

Regrets are now coming one by one. You always liked, no loved. You always loved Draken ever since you were kids but he does not know about it. You kept your feelings for him to yourself as you wanted him to be happy with Emma.

You were staring blankly at your apartment ceiling when your phone vibrated.

"Y/N, make sure you'll be able to come tomorrow huh. After all, you're my best friend." Draken has sent you a message.

You composed a reply and then hit the send button.

"Of course I'll come, baka. Why would I miss your wedding with Emma?"

You let out a bitter laugh when the message has been sent.

"Maybe in our next life, we will be together."
