Moving made a fiery shooting pain rip through Bill as he opened his eyes. His mouth felt dry and he had the sensation like he was about to throw up. Even his head screamed even at him as the light from outside poured into the room from outside.

This was all wrong...

Since becoming so powerful, nothing has managed to cause Bill injury. Not anything he couldn't easily heal from at least. This shouldn't be possible. He didn't understand...

Bill waved his hand, with great effort, and the great triangle window shaded over creating some relief for his eyes.

"So you're awake."

Pinetree? "I thought I told you you could go..?" Bill manages, his throat felt awful. Why would he still be here?

"You've told me a lot over the last three days. You've been in and out of it." Dipper comes into view. He had a bandage over his neck and looked to have scratch marks down his arms. He offers Bill a cup.

"Did I do-"

"Drink." Dipper doesn't let him finish.

Bill frowns, but gulps down the water bringing some relief. Dipper helps him sit up and he manged to get a better look around.

A chair had been pulled next to his bed and a bowl of water with a cleaning rag was on the bedside table along with a few bushels of herbs with a Mortar and Pestle.

"Have you been nursing me?" Bill laughs, but is promptly cut off as the pain proves too much.

"You could say that. It's my fault you're in this condition."

Bill reaches out, cupping Dipper's face and ignoring the pain, "No, it's mine. I should have let you go the day you were brought here but I was so caught up by you and who you were that I-"

"BROTHER! YOU'RE ALIVE... unfortunate" Killer bursts in, Will following close after.

"You can go sleep before your journey home Dip." William says, Dipper pulling out of Bill's reach and the two sharing a look for a little too long for Bill to be happy.

As Dipper leaves, Bill let's his eyes follow his every move until only Bill's brother's remain.

"You're lucky the kid stayed. That weapon of his is called Queen Killer. Powerful blade, truly. If he left, you'd be dead." Killer informs Bill.

"Why did he stay? If either of you-"

"Oh calm it brother, he stayed on his own. He hardly looked after himself to help you, even after you bit him" Kill laughs.

Bill's tongue ran over his sharp canines, "I bit him?"

"Really badly. Nearly ripped his head off. And you sliced up his arms pretty bad a few times. I had to help him a little." William chips in now. Bill didn't like the idea of Will being alone with Pinetree. It unnerved him.

"I said we should just let you both die." Killer shrugs.

"But now you're awake for real, he'll be going home."  William adds.

Bill couldn't help but look disappointed. After everything they'd been through together in a week, he was just leaving...

Dipper basically collapsed onto the bed he had called home for the last week for a final rest before he could finally go home. This was definitely one of the oddest weeks of his life; maybe the second.

He closed his eyes, slowly letting the sleep over take him.

The sun was just rising as Dipper tied the straps of his leather backpack closed, he had a day's travel ahead of himself to get back to his own land. He'd have to travel through a demon's land to get there as well- which was never easy. He was finally going home.

He ripped several pages from his note book out. They were instructions on how finish caring for the King's wound. He wasn't in mortal danger now, but Dipper knew there was still a lot of healing to happen still.

He left the papers on his bed, someone would probably come and clean and find them.

Dipper made his way to the main entrance, this was finally happening. A few more step and he was free. His family was only a day away. He was-

A hand catches his shoulder and Dipper freezes, grabbing the hand and turning it sharply to release their grip.

Turning around, Killer was stood, angrily looking at Dipper, "Damned Spirits, kid. What the fuck was that for? William wanted to talk... fuck.." he held his wrist.

"I'm so sorry- I-"

"Yeah, whatever, the runt is over there." Killer points just inside the gates, turning his wrist. It was fine now, still pissed off though.

William waited until Dipper was a few feet away to talk, "You didn't say bye to any of us."

"No, I didn't... Sorry. I just want to get home; finally."

William nods, "I understand." In his hands were the papers Dipper had left, "The writing on the edges, did you write that?" he points to some scribbled notes Dipper had made in a coded language he'd learnt from the Author- or, at least the journals.

"Oh yeah, it's nothing important; don't worry." he reassures.

"Okay, good." William reaches out, pulling Dipper into a tight hug suddenly, "I'll miss you tree man."

Dipper laughs gently, wrapping his own arms around the blue demon, "I'll miss you too. Maybe we'll cross paths again."

"Maybe."

Dipper pulls away, waving goodbye to Killer as he finally leaves the castle grounds. He was on his way home.

Bill watched as his Pinetree finally walked away into the twilight, the image forever burned into his memory. This was it. It was over...

"Goodbye, my Pinetree. I'll never forget you." his hands brush over the scare forming over the wound that the researcher had left him with. That's all he had now...
