"Here goes nothing." Arya spoke to herself before stepping out of the car and making her way towards the door of Ethan's house. It was nearing ten at night and she had just arrived back from Italy with Danica. This has to be her quickest trip to date, but the time away was definitely worth it. Deciding against using her key, she rang the doorbell and waited for Ethan to come to the door.
Ethan was already aware that Arya was here when the security lights turned on upon her pulling into the driveway. He assumed she would just walk in using her key, and was caught off guard when she pressed the doorbell instead. He'd been waiting to hear from her all day since their brief FaceTime conversation a couple days ago. He felt as though he'd be better able to communicate his feelings face to face with her. Standing up from the couch, he made his over to open the front door.
"Hi." Arya mumbled, unsure of how else to greet him.
"Hey, babe. I missed you." Ethan wrapped his arms around her in a tight bear hug that Arya refused to return.
"We need to talk." She spoke, causing him to release her from the hug.
"Are you hungry? I can order some food." Ethan questioned in an attempt to lighten the mood. Arya was hungry, but she needed to get this conversation over with as it couldn't be prolonged any further.
"I should have waited for the investigation before I signed the contract. I allowed someone that I trusted with my life to talk me into proceeding with signing the contract when none of it made sense. I allowed my eagerness to please James push me into prematurely signing a contract with you. Even worst, I allowed myself to sign a contract due to not wanting to disappoint you because I seen how reluctant you already were about using my services. On top of that I liked you already so if my system was telling me that we were a match then I'd be a fool to question it." Arya maintained eye contact with Ethan to be sure that he was receiving everything she was saying.
"I've realized that I can't be surprised that you would disrespect the basis of my company when I was doing the same. Going on dates, spending the night at each other's houses, meeting friends and family, even having sex with each other. This wasn't supposed to be anything until after the wedding, and there shouldn't have even been an agreement of a wedding until I got down to the bottom of why I was even matched. I'm so disappointed in myself that I dug myself into a position there's no way out of without damaging the reputation of my company." Ethan remained quiet, knowing that he needed to allow her to get everything out.
"Above everything, I'm hurt. I allowed myself to trust you and my sister so willingly when both of you refused to be honest with me when you thought you would get away with it. I would've called off the investigation had either of you been honest with me and now my entire executive team is probably questioning my better judgment. You sat up on most nights listening to me talk about my company, listening to my ideas, and congratulating me when you could care less about my company."
