The sun was slowly rising and the light was scattering through the leaves, creating beautiful rays of light that shone on Michael and Zoe inside the cave. Suddenly, Michael's smartphone rang with the ringtone "Get up, you lazy bastard".

Michael: "Uhhh..."

Michael groaned and tried to find his phone next to him with his hands while his eyes were still closed. He missed it many times and almost got it twice.

God damn it! Where is it?

Finally, he opened his eyes and reached for his phone. He turned off the morning alarm clock and deactivated it completely so it wouldn't bother him in the future. He didn't need the morning alarm clock anymore anyway.

Oh man.... That was the most fucked up dream I've ever had in my life. Me and Zoe were... Don't even think about it, Michael. You don't want her to set you on fire, do you? So, what now? I don't know what to do now. I've managed to tame a friendly furry animal, and she even shares her home with me. Zoe is still asleep, and I wish I was too. Damn alarm clock, you damn phone! Now I can't get up because she's sleeping on me! I hope she didn't catch my dream. She'd cook me if she did.

Michael looked at the sleeping Zoe. She was lying on top of him with her arms wrapped around him as if she had just caught her prey. Her grip was tight and didn't allow Michael to move much. Still, it felt very comfortable, because her fur was very soft and warm.... And smelly. Moreover, she blushed and smiled in her sleep, which Michael found really adorable. Michael decided to think about his homeworld for a while, while stroking Zoe's head.

I wonder what my world is like right now. Did my parents even realize I was gone? Probably, because today is... Wednesday, I think. I'm supposed to be at this shithole called school. I'm sure Mrs. Cockney has already called my parents. Even though I hated it there... I kind of miss home. I hope my parents haven't found out I'm gone. I don't want them to worry about me. Even though they both worked a lot and were rarely home, they still loved me and took care of me. But now I can't go back anyway.... Or can I? If there was a door with a lock somewhere, then maybe I could. I don't know for sure. Anyway, I'm staying here in this world. Any place is better than home. Besides, I don't want to leave Zoe alone. She is in the same situation as I am. She escaped her home and her inner demons to be free. She's all alone, with no one by her side but me. And even if I took her with me to my world, I would have to hide her from everyone. If furries found out there was a half-naked anthropomorphic vixen running around their neighborhood, they'd go nuts! And even worse is the government! What if the government found out about her existence? They would immediately capture her and perform experiments on her because she is basically an alien, a sentient and intelligent being from another world that has powers! I can't let that happen and I won't let that happen. I will stay here on this world no matter what! I finally got a second chance! A chance at a new and happy life with Zoe by my side! We could both explore new territories and fight for our survival. We could both have an exciting adventure! We could both build our own paradise where we could make our own rules. This time, no stupid law will stop us from enjoying life! I'm just glad I met a kind and caring friend like Zoe, and I don't care that she's not human! That's all I need in my life, and that's all I wished for. Now I can finally be happy again.

Michael smiled and wrapped his arms around her. In his vision, Zoe shone so brightly, as if she were some kind of angel. An angel who healed his depression and made him feel important in life.
