"Don't be scared, little cub...You must be a lion now." Venus's mother whispered to her as they were sitting down inside the Sears Tower or as most liked to call it, the Hub. "I wish father and Invictus were here." Venus whispered back to her, she glanced at her and gave her a saddened smile.

They both had not seen her brother since he transferred to Dauntless. Even on visiting days he always had an excuse as to why they could not see him, Venus understood why he was so distant. She knew that seeing them reminded him of their father who passed away just a day before his aptitude test.

Everyone in Amity knew that her brother was the most hot headed person in their family, which were known for being the kindest ones. It was no surprise when he chose Dauntless, although a lot of people from the other factions were surprised because Amity rarely chose Dauntless, this was known.

"Mom, when you transferred from Dauntless, did you ever regret it?" Venus asked her while lowering her voice, she looked at her daughter and shook her head. "...No, if I would've chosen anything else, I wouldn't have had you or your brother." She answered, she pushed the hair strand in front of Venus's face to the back of her ear and she slowly blinked at her. "The greatest thing about you, Venus, is that no matter what or where you are, you always adapted to your surroundings." She explained, Venus took in a calming breath and fidgeted with her hands nervously.

Her mother gently grabbed her hand and she felt herself slowly become comfortable in her seat.

"Just remember that I love you." She whispered and Venus nodded. "I love you too, mom." She whispered back.

Just as they looked away, Marcus Eaton stood in front of the bowls on the stage.

"Everyone settle down now, we will begin." Marcus said and everyone began to quiet down. The conversations came to a halt and Jeanine walked up to the stage. Venus felt her mother tense up and she shifted in her seat, she always knew her mother disliked Jeanine, which was odd because her mother liked everyone.

Except her.

"Good morning, my name is Jeanine Matthews from Erudite." She introduced herself even though everyone already knew her. "Today, is the day you all choose what faction you truly belong in. I want you to choose for yourself and not for the satisfaction of others, be true." She began with her speech and Venus glanced to Tanya who was just four rows below her. "The factions system is a living being composed of cells; all of you." She added while staring into the crowd.

Venus's ears drifted off from listening to her usual speech and she began to wonder of herself in each of the factions.

She saw herself wearing blue colors in Erudite, being so educated and smart while looking through a microscope.
