Chapter 10: Dark God in My Nightmare | Part One.

"Daisy!" I screamed into the house as soon as I arrived on the doorstep. My windblown hair looked like it had been styled by Zeus with his one or two lightning bolts.

"Janice! What are you doing?" My mom appeared from the kitchen, a spatula in her hand. "Daisy is not home. She's out with her…" My mom's face turned dreamy. "With my favourite soon to be son-in-law!"

"What! Who? Coach Marcus?" Eyes narrowed, I sauntered into the living room. "Who is this son-in-law of yours, mom?"

Mom sighed, "of course it's Coach Marcus. Is that what you kids call him at school? How's his first day at school? Hope he's comfortable settling in here. After all, he had come from far away."

"Where is this dude coming from?"

"He comes from…" And again I needed to witness the blank look dawned on my mom's face. The goosebumps I had obtained in the bus came to life again upon seeing my mom's face.

Everytime I asked a question to anyone about Coach Marcus, a question that can be considered detailed and personal in general. They would have the blank face, like they were deep in a trance. They did not have the answer to any of my questions.

"Mom?"

My stomach did a nasty knot inside me.

The clouded sight on my mom's face popped into life when I interrupted her. She frowned, "Janice! Is that a way to address him? 'Dude' really?" My mom scolded, completely ignoring my previous question.

"Go to your room, Janice." She ordered.

I lingered uneasily, wanting to ask her if she feels alright but my mom had excused herself to the kitchen. I dashed to my room, skipping two steps at once on the stairs. When I got to my room, Dave was sleeping in a ball form on my bed. He looked peaceful.

I threw myself at him, whining in a very unladylike way. Not bothering to take my socks off or place down my schoolbag, I squashed him under my chest.

"Dave!" I wailed.

"Ja—ommpphhh." He wiggled out. "What are you doing?"

"Dave you need to hear this!" I sobbed melancholically. I began to tell him about what had happened. About the mysterious Coach Marcus who had just sprung into existence out of nowhere. About the freaky circumstances of everyone seemed to know him. I was spooked and the feline Cupid looked at me in undecipherable way.

"Dave, I'm scared. Do you have any idea about who's this Coach Marcus?" I whispered, hugging the cat closer to me. Dave was warm and my stomach did a twist again.

But not in a bad twist.

"Janice, this is bad." His voice was in a low tone, almost filled with soft trepidation.

"What is it, Dave?"

"We can't let him!" He whispered.

"Tell me."

"He's the Lord of douchebaggery. My brother!" Dave's voice hit a tone higher and he started to tremble out of fear or he was just dancing in a funky way.

"Your brother? Ares?"

"Ares who—yea yeah, I mean Ares. War. My stupid brother. He's here. He wants to prevent me. He wants me to be a cat forever!"

I cupped my face in horror. "Oh no!"

"Indeed, oh no."

"He mind-controls everyone in the school, including my family and disguises himself as my sister's beau. What are we supposed to do? He won't hurt her, right?"
