Chapter 03: This Cat is Probably Crazy or it is Me?
What would you do when you unexpectedly became an owner to a cat? A cat that was full of sass and attitude? In addition to that, one that was self proclaimed to be a supernatural god and said to be possessed unfathomable power?
But most importantly, when your family was full of people that didn't like cats! Well, his plan was just to straight barge in to the front door and declare that you're adamant to be a cat owner.
My goodness, what an idea!
"What are you waiting for? Now go inside, and say that you want a cat." He said.
I looked at the tabby cat, irritated. "It is easier to say than done." Crouching behind the wall of the house that had been my home since the beginning of my life. I peered through the window to see my family was prepping up for dinner.
"Does dinner is the right time to publicly announce something?" I mused, looking at my family gathered around the dining table.
"Yes! It is absolutely the perfect time to tell your family that I'm going to stay at your home." The cat spoke, looking up to me lazily while snuggling on our welcome mattress.
"How did you know that?"
"Girl, I have been around since the beginning of time, before the creation of universe. Of course I would know that." He said, the 'duhh' tone was palpable in his voice.
I grimaced. I hadn't fully bought his story yet and he stated about how ancient he was, was definitely sounding foreign in my ears. Puckered my lips, I tried to wrack my brain for better ideas.
One that would not get my butt grounded for a month.
"Come on girl, just do it." The cat urged more as he came to sit next to me.
"You don't know my family. They're very strict about having a pet in the house." I argued.
"Look at me. Can you see how cute and irresistible I am? Can your family deny me?"
I rolled my eyes. This cat really did pack some attitudes with him. "Let me muster up some courage first, okay?"
"Courage? How long will it take? They're about to start dinner, they're waiting for us now." The cat began to sit up straighter, his orange fur swayed with the twilight breeze blowing softly.
"Us? Since when you come into this equation?"
"Since I've decided to!"
Now, the cat was moving. He gave me a fed up look. The kind of look cat gives you when they have had enough of your crap and would stare you down with their slanted eyes. He walked to the door and without any physical intervention, the door cracked open with a whoosh.
He proceeded inside, walking with his tail high.
For a moment, I was stunned. It was either magic in action or my house had a very funky door. But then, I realised I had just let a strange cat entered my house. I quickly made a frantic dash following the cat inside. The smell of beef stew hit my nose when I turned to my dining room. I was expecting a lot of yelling, surprised shouting and confusion noises from my family because of the cat.
But when I came to a screeching halt on the doorway, thick droplets of sweat on my forehead. All I saw was my family gathering peacefully around the mahogany table. My dad with his yesterday's paper, glasses on the edge of his nose. My twin brothers were their usual self, fighting over the seat that faced the television and my sister was helping my mom with the baked potato. All was well except there was this strange orange cat in the scene, the odd anomaly.
