Of course, everyone in the dark brotherhood carried an air to them, one that made someone uneasy around them- something that could scare any normal person out on the roads on Cyrodiil. Their job was to assassinate people, so it was only natural that they were unnerving or perhaps unhinged if you asked the right person.

But Lucien? He was beyond horror. He was the type that made your spine cold and itchy with fear and unease. He struck pure and unrefined fear into those around him on the odd occasion he walked in the open. He was that nagging thought, that gut feeling that something was horribly wrong, the freeze of your fight or flight. If that wasn't enough to keep you away from him and your mouth shut, your hands by your side on best behaviour- then the intense smell of blood that followed him would. It was basically his natural scent now- he didn't need to be covered in it to be its presence.

He was terrifying, and all of the brotherhood knew it.

So naturally, you got all sorts of strange looks and reactions when you asked people about Lachance. Everyone had their own personal story about him, whether they shared it or not as was the case with Vincente's.

They all painted a story as to who he was and what he was like: be it caring for Ocheeva and her brother or protecting the respect of the five Tennents. "It took me a week to get the blood off my boots" was something Gogron told you- which wasn't something you want to hear about anyone really. He was a violent man, yet refined. Gogron was the friendly type, an untypical Assassin who liked hugs and not sneaking. He was nearly sick when he described how violent Lucien could be- it honestly freaked you out a little.

In truth, you hadn't joined the brotherhood smoothly. You were still mourning Martin when he came to you, and assassins were still a sore spot for you. You nearly attempted to murder Lucien right then and there, but he wasn't going to let you take him down so easily. He ended up dragging you into the Cheydinhal sanctuary himself, with you kicking and screaming most of the way- had he not knocked you out for half of it. But in the end, the blankness and emptiness you had harboured made you perfect for the job- completely detached and casual.

So your surprise when he requested your presence and yours alone, sparked all kinds of reactions. Ocheeva tried to keep it between the two of you, and she was shocked and frankly a little disturbed and worried about what he could want. Fear, dread, worry, excitement- you were a whole mess of emotions by the time you had reached him. He had you detached, wrapped around his finger and invested in everything about him, and he thought the same of you. You intrigued him, and he wouldn't put that lightly.

So you came to him in his own private safe place- a thought that made you inwardly chuckle. Even those who people need a safe place from needed a safe place- it was ironic. His hood was down, letting you finally get a good look at him as you stepped into the room. He turned his head to see you step in, your footing light yet it wasn't as if you were trying to sneak: you just had a light feather to your steps. He stood at his full height as you approached him, barely standing an inch taller than you. You removed your hood, hair slipping onto your shoulders and face visually relaxing. How did he relax you? No clue.

"The purification has been completed. A real shame, really..." you muttered, thinking of all the fun times you had with each of the members. Whether it be sorting out strife between Vincente and Marie, getting rib crushing 'congratulations on your new rank' hugs from Gogron, or slowly trying to get the stubborn Khajit to like you. You even gave him moon sugar once- and you were certain he liked you after that but just hid the thought. You'll miss them, but you were used to it.

Lucien nodded, a small and unnerving smile curving the ends of his lips. "I'd like to appoint you as my silencer, you have come to serve the brotherhood well."

"I'm honoured to be appointed to such a position." You accepted his offer, already knowing about silencers and their job. Lucien was intrigued by this, wondering how you knew such a fact that was unknown to those out of the black hand. He didn't think about it further, and you didn't bother to speak.

"You will receive all future work and contacts via dead drops, located all over Cyrodiil. Once you leave here, we will not see each other again unless I deem it necessary." He explained, and you felt a small tinge in your heart. You tried to ignore it, but the small and brief change of expression on your face Lucien picked up straight away. "Does that upset you?" He asked, no hint of emotion in his voice.

The direct nature of his question made you hesitate- he barely gave you a moment to think. "Well, I suppose I should make the most of this last meeting then..." you replied.

Surprisingly, he smiled. It was a small smile, but still had a strange warmth to it for a cold man. "I knew you would come around." He commented, throwing you back to when you first joined- how you didn't want to join. "And now you want to stay with me."

"Am I not allowed to?" You asked him, wondering if he wanted you there at all. Maybe he didn't return your feelings he so accurately read, but you did not know.

"Let us make this meeting worth while. If you left now, I'm sure it'll be difficult for the both of us." He decided, and you felt flustered at the thoughts.

So he did return those dark feelings. The ones that grew in the dark and commanded your thoughts.

You didn't know what was in store, and that mystery excited you.

A/n: maybe one day I'll do something that leads to spicy but it's usually hard to keep going when a story is already over a 1000 words.
So ya'll have to deal with disappointing cut off unless someone wants a part two
