Closet Monster

Chapter 2

Tell me, wouldn't you be scared waking up in complete darkness in the middle of the night, with two bright eyes staring right at you?

Most people would be. At least be a little shaken up if not completely scared. A little shocked. That is the first thing your mind and body does in these kind of situations. That should be your initial reaction.

Nobody..nobody normal would open one eye, see the red eyes staring at you in the darkness, stare back at it for a second and the roll back in the bed falling back in sleep.

Jungkook was beyond confused by this reaction as he stood in complete darkness by the bed of the girl that moved in with his red glowing demon eyes full on display.

Maybe she thought it was a nightmare?

Jungkook tried again. He walked towards the other side of the bed which she was facing and woke her up using his powers. She did the same again. Opened one eye, saw his red eyes and went back to sleep without any reactions whatsoever.

Jungkook frowned. He doesn't understand if he's doing something wrong. This can't be right. This bland reaction, or no reaction at all can't be right.

Normally Jungkook doesn't like scaring people unnecessarily. He doesn't scare people unless he really really needs too. But she never gave a normal reaction. Or any reaction at all. No matter what he tried.

Banging in the closet at night, giving her glimpses of himself, making breathing noises, making tapping noises, breathing right on her neck while she sleeps..no reaction. Nothing.

She either just ignores everything, sometimes smirks at his direction or just rolls over and goes back to sleep.

He has to admit when she smirks at him, he feels suffocated. As if she's challenging him. Making fun of him.

Jungkook tried waking her up a few more times and tried the same red eyes trick to scare her but the same thing happened over and over again.

At one point Jungkook gave up and decided to try again tomorrow. He walked away from the bed and sat at the corner of the room on the floor while cupping his cheek with his hand and looking at her.

She moved in about two weeks ago. Right when Jungkook was about to lose his mind by being trapped in that closet. Jungkook had an odd feeling about her since the day she come to see the house, and it grew more and more each day.

Everything about her was just odd.

She didn't move in with a lot of luggage or furniture. Just a few small suitcases of clothes, a big ass luggage of God knows what that she keeps under her bed, a bed, a dresser. Her clothes are kept in the dresser that she brought. Jungkook hasn't yet seen what she has brought for the living room. He hasn't been able to go there till now. His powers haven't increased that much yet. For now he's just happy that he can go out of the damn closet and roam around her room at night.

Closet monsters gain power through people seeing them, believing in them, being scared of them. To get out of the closet and roam around freely in the world. The more people believe in their existence the more power and freedom they gain. That was why he started making noises the very night she moved in. Trying various tactics to scare her, show himself to her. And this time he gained freedom out of the closet quite quickly, even he himself was shocked. Mostly because he though none of his tactics were working on her.

She shows literally no reactions. How was he supposed to know that they were working? And if the tactics were working that means she definitely sees him when he shows himself to her, she definitely saw his red eyes tonight as well, then why is she never shocked? Is her heart built of steel or what? Why doesn't she do anything about him? Anyone else would've contacted psychics and exorcists by now to get rid of him. Why is she so calm?
